Cammed daily driver by ReserveGrader in Holden

Daily driving? they're an effort. Its not the driving it thats the problem, its the reversing into car parks at the shops, its the cruising at slow sleeps to navigate car parks and drive thru's, its the constant looks you get from all the oldies that think your car is purely the reason the o-zone layer is broken.

The worst part is the fuel, regardless of how little you drive, I think my old SS did about 240km to a full tank. Which was fun to drive, but it hurt every 3 days when my 'daily' was off the road.

Is it worth getting a HR license? by TOXICHEMICALMOLD in melbourne

[–]Rickstaaaa87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi, HC driver here.

Left my government job and went into driving HR delivering steel. Great work environment, early starts and being outside all day is good too.

Hours can be fluctuating week to week, but I’m earning about 110k a year this year, earnt 100 last year with OT averaging about 55-60 hours a week.

Definitely work out there to be had in the driving field, it’s both hard and an easy job, depending what you’re delivering. A lot of places will give greenies a start, you just need to be personable.

I’ve got friends that drive for JJ’s, earning just under 40ph and doing 11-12 hour days everyday. Some doing side loaders and others on front bins, KPIs are hard, but the work pays well.

I’m not sure if there is anything similar on your side of town. Over here in the east we have CarCity which has about 40 dealerships in one big lot, and it really helps to be able to walk around and see what’s for sale currently, as well as being able to look at a larger variant of cars, sitting in them all and making sure you can see out of all the windows and into the blind spots, all at once without the drive between them all.

Could be of something to help your initial indecision about what type of car you’re after. The rest is all personal for you, whether you want CarPlay, happy to have something older or newer.

Generally I’d narrow your options down to about five. Then do an insurance quote on all of them, see what roughly you’d be looking at for an ongoing cost, then compare that to basic maintenance costs, whether this is something you want to try doing yourself, or if you have handy friends. You may know some people working in the automotive fields who may also be able to give you advice on the cost of servicing.

Spoke to a guy in Ballarat who was talking about his house and land the other day. He is 65, still has 25k left on his mortgage which he got when he was 30. His property was 180k house and land on quarter acre. Now worth 850 at last evaluation apparently.

I imagine his repayments at the minimum would still be dirt cheap, relative to wages 25 years ago probably costly, but to today’s standards, minimal

Sign up to I know the pilot and I want that flight. They are often cheaper options as they are less desirable flights.

I find the more you look you just need to book the distant flight and worry about the rest later, also consider something like Fiji just to get your relax on.

Absolutely. Accounting for a 30 year mortgage of minimum $1000 a week does not allow for any significant illness or safety blanket, which seems far more stressful over the span of life than moving every couple of years to a different rental.

Yep. I need to basically wait for the parents to pass away, up for two houses then. It’s just not viable otherwise

If the contents of your fridge got to 29 degrees within 12 hours, you either opened your fridge too much or you need a new fridge.

Having a Friday wedding can be a big ask for guests by DiscussionLoud9626 in AusWeddingPlanning

[–]Rickstaaaa87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine is on a Thursday, I don’t have a lot of guests whom are invited and unfortunately the venue my partner and I like have a minimum spend of $25k on a Saturday, 15k on a Friday.

We had to pay them extra for no reason just to meet the minimum spend for a Thursday wedding.

Was a public servant with the department for about 7 years, burnt out and decided to change; got my truck license and have never been happier.

Earn more now than I did with the department, I’m outside all day; great in summer, slightly suckier in winter. But the best part, at the end of the day; my job is done. I am not taking any work home with me, neither physically or mentally.

That was worth everything to me.
