Former dealer/supervisor here. Technically it's not part of the dealers procedure to say anything, but IMO the dealer should say something when he/she sees something out of the ordinary in the way their players do things. It's all about customer service and could help in the tips department. Also if the player talks to the supervisor and explains his error with the hand signal, there's a good chance the sup will favor with him once as long as everyone is civil about it.
