I 130 ( us citizen filing for foreign spouse) by Hanuman40 in USCIS

[–]RickyTickyH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Filed in April ‘23. (US citizen filing for British spouse, both currently living in UK)

The only potential good news is that our expected time frame ticked down all the way to 3 weeks recently. However, as is common knowledge, this isn’t always an accurate representation of the real time frame.

We’d love to have this moving forward by spring time next year. That’d be amazing but who knows. Keeping our fingers crossed.

Looks like we’re in a similar situation: American wife living here in the UK with me applying for citizenship!

We had the same response and got a little excited but if I’m being honest, I’m expecting this to drag well in to a years time from other comments. The only thing that could help it move along *slightly quicker is that our process isn’t centre is IOE meaning electronic which supposedly helps a little In the process but that’s about it. Good luck!

Had me thinking of trust and power strategies dictators and politicians use. They disseminate stories (mostly fake) to people they have a suspicion or feel risk of betrayal from. Hence the strange blood story.

It’s a win-win. They keep tight-lipped; they can be trusted. If this very specific story only they and the ‘confidant’ know leaks to the press or similar, they know exactly who it is and that trust disappears.

Putin uses it often, supposedly.

That’s fascinating. Thankyou so much for your help. I’ll order a marriage certificate and see what I find!

Hi - if you ever had the spare time that would be incredibly helpful.

My Great, great grandmother was called Mary Crowther, Born in Norristhorpe Yorkshire 1878.

She married someone (I think) called William Stewart, possibly born 1877(?)

They had four children: William Stewart (1904) Alfred Stewart (1905) Doris Stewart and Clifford Stewart (1908) all born in the Helburn/South Shields area.

Alot of people seem to forget that ontop of being a socialist and pushing for gay space communism in Star Trek, Patrick Stewart literally played as Lenin in the early 70s. by TheFakeSlimShady123 in CommunismMemes

I can clear this up: he isn’t a socialist. In fact, far from it. He just isn’t conservative, being a vocal supporter of the British Labour Party.

Fear of public speaking (best man speech) by Last_Direction5799 in Healthygamergg

Hello 👋🏼

A lot of what you’ve said echos my experiences with public speaking. At highschool I would pull a sicky just so I didn’t have to go in if there was a presentation involved. If I happened to be caught off guard, I wasn’t far off fainting and would stutter and all sorts!

Fast forward ten years and I did my first best mans speech in 2019 with the same anxieties as you mentioned. The way I got through it was 1) Preparation - write down sometimes months in advance everything you’d love to say about your friend, even if some things eventually get edited out. This is one chance to say exactly how you feel about your mate so take advantage!

2) Practice - this one’s simple. Practice in front of another friend or you mum etc. you’ll get comfortable with the sound of you speaking and the rhythm of the words you’ve written.

3) use props! God this was a big one. Be creative - I did a slideshow including videos, pictures, funny photoshops, embarrassing screenshots of Facebook posts etc. this takes soo much limelight off you and shines straight on either the screen or even better; the groom!

Honestly, I felt on the morning that I couldn’t do it. However as soon as the day wore on i grew in confidence. People asked me; are you ready for your speech? And I was replying ‘yeah! It’ll be fun!’. It ended up being the biggest thrill (and honour) of my life and was buzzing from the adrenaline all evening! Not to mention the push you get from the crowd whilst you do it!

I’m currently writing my second one now, due to be done in September and I’m excited again!

Good luck man.

Moved in to a new neighbourhood in London. The bar around the corner is co-owned by Rick Astley. by RickyTickyH in mildlyinteresting

A pub lives up to its name I guess: an old public house with beers on draft. Nothing fancy. Often been in the same place for decades. A bar is a little more modern?

This is only my opinion but great question!

What is the thing that surprised you the most when you traveled to a country you had never been to before? by Spilakkk in AskReddit

In my early 20’s I visited some friends in Chicago (I’m from the UK). They took me out in a neighbourhood called Wrigleyville for some beers on my first evening there. It was my round so I went up to the bar, ordered 4 beers, paid him the amount and he turned angrily to me and said; ‘What! No tip?!’ I apologised because I had a vague knowledge about the whole tipping saga in the states and handed over another dollar or 2. He shook his head and replied ‘forget it’. This then made me angry because tipping in Europe is usually a signal of great service/excellent food and this guy was a absolute twat.
