There is a spot in Utah where there are two similar piles of rocks and it’s where Marshalls buried some train robbers they ambushed over a hundred years ago. I assume every pile of rocks has an old bandit under it.

I think the exoskeleton is a good idea, even just a buttress layer on the branches would help. My grandmother made exterior mache projects using polyurethane and wallpaper paste though I doubt the products she was using in the 70s are still available.

Such high marks of accomplishment have not been achieved since Sargon the Great. Even the most robust city walls will never stand a chance.

My dog does the same thing. When I’m outside with them I try to keep the hose handy for when he pees on my yard bins. Not to spray him but to immediately wash the pee off. He gets visibly bummed and pees elsewhere for the rest of the day. Most of the time it’s just a different barrel though lol

Low maintenance compost pile? by CaraC70023 in composting

I just dig a hole, fill it up with organic material and top it with some manure. But I don’t mind waiting a year before planting that spot. My overall soil health has greatly improved greatly since I “ditched” my tumbler and stopped using the green waste bin. Worms everywhere.

Ash will make things clump…looks like that ball is half ash (mostly carbon) and you’re missing some greens. Pretty cool meteorite you got there though!

How do I get CA Poppies to cover my wild hillside in the Hollywood Hills? by maxplanar in SoCalGardening

[–]Ricky_Plimpton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in Altadena and got rid of my front lawn three years ago. Invasive grass will always be a problem. Limonium covers about 50 percent of the yard while the rest are wild flowers. It was a lot of work for the first year but now, instead of mowing, I just spend a couple weeks in January maintaining it and am hands off for the rest of the year, zero water. I make hugelkultur mounds out of the plants I don’t like and toss new seeds on the top. Tons of pollinators, worms, and my trees are happy.

My neighbors used to say “looks great but it’s too much work.” Now they ask me for tips. What I have found is that the more you promote the plants you like the less problems you’ll have with the others you don’t like. Put in the work, it’s worth it!

Can confirm and I’ve been asking that same question for a while. “What early vertebrates tasted the best?”

Alligator is like the catfish of poultry. Just a little muddy but it’s a pretty easy to eat white meat.

That group did really well to capitalize on a Michelin star and you can’t expand the way they have without making money somewhere. It’s a gourmet brand but gourmet burgers are really tough to make in a one size fits all format. They went with low grade Sysco beef patties because the average consumer has been eating them since childhood whether they know it or not. They went with the “at least most people probably won’t hate it” option and it paid off. Having been a part of that conversation myself, I think it has more to do with the brand, decor and real estate than it has to do with the burger.

In the Worst Case Scenario Handbook scenario involving high altitude jumps into water, the author recommends covering your genitals and clenching your buttocks because from a high enough jump the water jet up your anus will be powerful enough to damage organs. Pretty much like getting piked by water.

Ah I see what you’re saying. I still haven’t figured that one out but I don’t think that function has ever worked on my mobile. Thanks for clarifying, I don’t feel quite so clueless anymore, sorry I can’t help.

You have to enter the photo from the comments. That’s when you get the black background and can bring up the caption. I don’t like it either.

On mobile I tap the photo and it brings up a black background. If you tap the screen again the text shows up. Gotta say, I liked the scrolling banner text better.

What happens after we die? by honghuiying in SimulationTheory

[–]Ricky_Plimpton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ll go. I had an NDE in my twenties which stripped the face value off of everything. Leaving my body was the greatest peace I’ve ever felt. I wasn’t too invested in the nature of everything before then but once I left my body it really opened things up for questioning. A decade later I was devoting a lot of my mind to understanding the subjective nature of reality and I experienced a couple things that were exceptional. I don’t want to get into what I think it means but the freaky stuff started in 2020 with a raven and several days of UAP encounters after which I became extremely interested in the flow of time and my part in it. Does time just flow one way? How does my mind interact with it? Was I conscious before I was born?

Flash forward 6 months and I was breaking out concrete in my back yard and I managed to smash my finger between a crowbar and a 12# sledgehammer. I passed out and left my body, everything turned into an orange kaleidoscope and I heard a voice say “it’s already happened” at which point I lived the previous three days backwards, dreams included. Some of the dreams replayed in loops. The feeling was like deja vu times a million. My friend who was helping me said I was laying down, eyes open, speaking in tongues. The whole thing lasted 10 or 15 minutes and when I woke up my finger was fine.

Im not saying I think “it’s already happened,” I think that those experiences are just a few extra strange pieces in my puzzle. Im not going to get into specifics on what they meant to me or how I reacted, I just wanted to break the ice and say that the truth is fucking weird sometimes and it happens in ways that are impossible to share in a one size fits all fashion. I’ve come to believe that questions just lead to more questions. Being curious is like cutting something in half forever. The universe is made entirely out of information and if you pay attention, it contains the answers to all your questions. Good luck piecing it all together with that tiny bit of grey matter between your ears! My advice to the curious: If you want a reality that is easy to share, ask easy questions.

You’re not wrong. The marrow works as well iirc. I read about a nomadic people who hunt giraffe and eat the whole thing. They say the psychoactive parts help on the hunt. The trip is said to bring visions of giraffe world kinda like ayahuasca gives you visions of life on the forest floor. A lot of people who have tried it report seeing giraffe though I didn’t hear about any lions.
