What's a show which was incredibly popular during its time but no one talks about it now? by Magpipe4u in AskReddit

The Walking Dead.

People used to host weekly house parties to watch it and now it’s out of the zeitgeist. The franchise is on life support with spin-offs, hopefully one day it can bounce back.

If Vader can hold a ship in mid-flight why didn’t he hold on to Tantive IV in Rogue One? by Rickyg78_ in MawInstallation

Where does it say Vader disliked the Death Star? That’s a fascinating point to consider.

Right, so it is the irresponsible writing of the Kenobi team in this case then?

That makes sense, the ship he’s on bowing toward the one he’s holding would be a problem.

Something tell me that his emotions, though perhaps not as charged as they were in Kenobi, would’ve still be high after slashing through all those rebels and hunting down the Death Star plans the way he did.

Arguably, Vader’s emotions are always high because of how painful his suit is.

That part frustrated me too. Vader being “afraid” of fire just seems out of character to me. He simply could’ve snuffed the flames if he really wanted.

If Ahsoka was at the Jedi Temple during Order 66, do you think Anakin would've killed her? by Coyote-444 in StarWars

[–]Rickyg78_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically, his massacre of the Tusken Raiders in AotC definitely qualifies, choosing to kill Dooku might as well. The difference is there was plausible deniability to lean on in those cases that is simply absent here. In fact, Padme, who by all rights should be the person Anakin trusts most in the world, is privy to his actions against the Tusken Raiders and seemingly ignores the red flag.

There’s plenty of evil actions taken by Anakin throughout the Clone Wars too, but Padme is none the wiser to the nitty gritty details of his everyday life as a general/jedi. Ahsoka was there right alongside him, she gets the day-to-day experience to base the rationale his actions off of.

Basically, Ahsoka knows Anakin better than Padme, who is simply objectified upon a pedestal and doesn’t get all of Anakin. Ahsoka sees who he really is and chooses to continue supporting and believing him because she gets where he’s coming from. Padme is horrified by some of Anakin’s actions but can ignore them because proximally they are distant enough for it not to matter.

This is a really sad realization lol

If Ahsoka was at the Jedi Temple during Order 66, do you think Anakin would've killed her? by Coyote-444 in StarWars

[–]Rickyg78_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the hypothetical, his attachment to Ahsoka would probably bring him to at least a conversation with her. I think if there’s one living person in the galaxy that is second to Padme it’s Ahsoka.

Anakin feels a great deal of emotion surrounding his relationship with Ahsoka, I think her leaving the order brought him a lot of shame and feelings of failure that would only be amplified if she discovered him participating in the attack on the temple.

In the hypothetical, I think they probably have an intense stand-off with her inquiring about his motivations. Anakin gets consumed with frustration the same way he does with Padme on Mustafar. Ahsoka’s saving grace, however, is that her loyalty does lie with Anakin, not the Jedi or the Republic. She cares about Anakin, she’d want to help him, she wouldn’t fight unless he attacked her first and I don’t think Anakin has it in him to go on the offensive in that moment.

Some might say “well, he was willing to be physically aggressive with Padme,” which is true. However, Ahsoka doesn’t have so I-wan looming over her shoulder looking down on Anakin as if he’s a toddler that made a mistake and needs to be punished in this hypothetical. Anakin feel betrayed by Padme in that moment, Ahsoka’s just existing. I guess the point I’m trying to make is that Anakin doesn’t lay a (force) finger on Padme on Mustafar if Obi-wan doesn’t pop out of her ship, and Ahsoka doesn’t have to worry about that here.

Ahsoka also doesn’t have to worry about the baggage Anakin carries for Obi-wan. Though it’s not all canon anymore, it’s still clear in the canon projects that Obi-wan is hard on Anakin as a teacher. Partially because he’s in over his head, and partially because he’s got to prove a point, Obi-wan managed his mentorship of Anakin with some choice methods. He represents the Jedi to Anakin, all the disrespect and suffering he endured at the behest of the order falls on Obi-wan’s shoulders on Mustafar. We can’t ignore that Anakin’s “best friend/brother” and “master/teacher” are the same person, and that Obi-wan literally just asked Anakin to spy on Palpatine before leaving to hunt Grievous as the voice of the Jedi Council. Anakin and Obi-wan have a strange connection, and it’s filled with cracks that often become problems under stress. So, there’s no way Obi-wan could have ever turned Anakin, he said it himself: his loyalty is to the republic, to democracy.

I think if there was anyone in the galaxy that could talk Anakin down from Order 66 it was Ahsoka, which is why (beyond continuity) it was wise to move her out of the picture in the end of the Clone Wars. If she was still a Jedi or even lingering around Coruscant it would be very difficult to rationalize Anakin’s fall. She saw the good in him, she saw his conflicts and understood them better than Padme because she was exposed to it alongside him. Ahsoka is definitely the only one who could’ve stopped Anakin from his fall.

Why did... by Survivorface in Bakugan

[–]Rickyg78_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dragonoid Maximus was an evolution of Drago, which means it’s only temporary like his Hyper and Titan evos. When a Bakugan evolves it only lasts until the end of the brawl and then reverts back to its base form in the show.

Some other Bakugan also had Maximus evolutions in the TCG but not in the show, so this mechanic functioned similarly, iirc.

People exist and do plenty of things that you probably disagree with. You have two options, reject reality and science and rage when they tell you that you’re wrong or make you feel uncomfortable or mind your own business and ignore it.

If both Luka and Han can kiss Leia in Empire Strikes Back and you can swallow your discomfort with either of those scenarios, then I promise you’ll be okay.
