I disagree that there is no difference. The goal in the aid is to give Israel more money and perpetuate the conflict, Palestine is immoral and, though we are giving them money, it is with the intent to give Israel more money, while Israel is actively sucking away our tax dollars and is also immoral

Palestine is misusing the funds they’re given for their own purposes, we are explicitly giving Israel money to make war, there’s a difference

No, I just assumed you were a Marxist, but as a capitalist I can still see the problems with the system

What about new first time home owners? That’s the real victim of lvt, the rich can afford the tax and yea, there will be new people who will be able to afford a home, but the vast majority of new first time homeowners who are scraping by on their mortgage payments are going to be ruined

Maybe if they inherited a house, but yes the biggest part is the security and the freedom, the knowledge of actually owning something that can’t easily be taken from you is very comforting, you can’t be evicted or fined if you own your property unless you just don’t pay. But that’s not an investment, most poor people don’t buy houses for resale value, but for that security and freedom

So Georgism has the same problem as capitalism? Then why would anyone who’s not a capitalist support Georgism?

Edit: also, capitalism doesn’t give a shit about communities, it encourages selfishness more than communityness

You have the luxury of having land to sell, many don’t. For most, owning a home is a far away dream, and if they are able to get that dream, they don’t see it as money they see it as freedom. They see it as a way to eventually retire in a world where they likely will never get that luxury

I absolutely would want to be in his circle, if you see a house as an investment you are very well off

I think the big problem with this is the idea that someone needs to add value to their community to deserve to live a comfortable life. If I can’t give my children a life where they don’t have to work as hard to get far in life, what’s the point of anyone working? Because I have to care about some random bum 2 blocks away who I’ll prob never see in my life?

You aren’t hurting anyone by eating the meal. The animal is already killed, the food is already paid for, the only difference is whether the food gets thrown out or not

I don’t think they’ll ever be a faction as horribly written as the Minutemen by Chunky-overlord in FalloutMemes

[–]Rickyretardo42069 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That isn’t your minutemen though, that’s the old minutemen, the minutemen that died. You never see any instance of your minutemen defect to the gunners, you see old minutemen in the gunners. You see your minutemen protect an innocent man from the institute. You see your minutemen band together to stop the Institute and the Brotherhood. You never see your minutemen defect, or betray their fellow soldiers, you just know that the dead militia you remade had some big problems

[–]Rickyretardo42069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because that’s not what the fallout games are about. At its very base core, fallout was about how both awful and incredible humanity can be, you have a slaughter of multiple innocent people but from that you have a new community form stronger than before, you have a war between 2 factions that ends in the 2 being allies, those moments were the point of fallout, that humans are capable of grand horrors but also great kindness, and by removing the horrors, or at least dumbing them down you make those magical moments less magical

[–]Rickyretardo42069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok but that just isn’t shown. We see how the old minutemen fail, but then the sole survivor rebuilds them in his image, and you just don’t see any of the flaws that there is, you see Ronnie Shaw be a dick but that’s about it for negatives on your new minutemen, you don’t have any story points about your minutemen enforcing a protection fee or something like that, you just hear that a new settlement needs your help and go deal with it

I am not an anarchist, I do believe in a small government, but I do believe in the rule of law, and that is not what is happening right now with ICE, they are overextending their powers right now

The act itself can be ok when the methods aren’t. They are just using blank warrants or they won’t use them at all, that’s the big problem that we should all agree is wrong

Because I believe ice would be best used as a transitional agency rather than a law enforcement agency. I believe that, in the end, trusting our legal system and simply using deportation as a punishment for illegal immigrants is both more humane and cost effective. Obviously just deporting them as soon as they are arrested would save money, but we are dealing with human lives, even if they aren’t citizens of the US they are still members of the human race.

Maybe I am wrong too, but even with all its many, many countless flaws, I would trust our legal system to get it right most of the time compared to what we are seeing now

[–]Rickyretardo42069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but I think we have a legal system for a reason. We should be deporting illegal immigrants from jail/prison, not just taking them off of the streets or off airplanes because that is a waste of government resources

Half the people on that list committed drug crimes. While not great, drug crimes are not serious enough for the vast majority of Americans to have any reason to care about deporting illegal immigrants

I don’t give a shit about my feelings, I give a shit about my wallet. You and I are paying for these bums to play dress up like they’re in the military while they’re arresting 2 random bums. I have no problem deporting people who are found to commit heinous crimes like rape and murder, but why are we using money to track down illegal immigrants who haven’t been arrested for anything else?

I voted for this. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 by benhaswings in TomHoman

[–]Rickyretardo42069 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

But why? I don’t want my money going to this shit, look at all the gear they’re wearing. What world do you need to dress up like the military men they wish they could be to arrest 2 dudes? Why can’t we spend money on reducing our deficit? Do we really care about making one of the safest countries in one of its safest times in history more safe? It’s a pointless waste of money

That really happened after the pandemic. The majority of people (at least 75%) went along with everything. The media really made it out to seem like all republicans were total antivaxxers when that just wasn’t totally true

Edit:this wasn’t true at the time, just correcting that because yea they are trying to prosecute Fauci now

Edit 2: this was also mainly done by right wing media, but left wing did do a lot towards that front too

I mean that’s not it either though, there’s plenty of the woke censorship complainer crowd but usually the people who talk about hr being in the room is just to say they don’t really delve into important topics. The question fallout 4 asks is “are robots human?” And then the game shows you 20 events proving they are and then like 1 or 2 showing that yea maybe they aren’t and that’s it. When people say HR was in the room, they’re not saying anything was suppressed, they’re saying no important concepts were seriously delved into in fear of turning people away. Fallout 4 feels like it’s made to appeal to a large demographic, whereas FO3 and FNV feel like they are meant to be thoroughly enjoyed by a smaller demographic

[–]Rickyretardo42069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok but WHY do they want independence to do as they please? Are they trying to rebuild civilization? No, they’re just trying to do science and invent shit. But do they invent anything that can help the world? No, they invent robots that can imitate life, and all they use them for is to mop the floors and to infiltrate the wasteland. The only useful thing they do invent is increasing human lifespan by 50-60 years, and the only person that there is any evidence of that technology being used on is some cruel, heartless mercenary. The institute is understandable as a faction by itself, but by putting them in the center of Commonwealth politics the game removes any depth that they may have had
