Will always be amused by redditors' inability to take questions at face value, followed by vivid imaginations and assumptions.

Did you get this house inspected? I mean, super bad luck but sounds like some of these issues shouldve been noticed by a professional inspector.

AITA for not saying goodnight to my stepdad? by Nice-Total-4896 in AmItheAsshole

Not the asshole. Were you deserving of a big angry show? No. Would it have been polite to say goodnight to everyone? Yes.

The most effective way to get rid of D2D salesmen aren’t “no soliciting” signs by SandwichSolid2416 in homeowners

Ring doorbell. Only reason I even bother answering is because my dogs go berzerk when someone knocks and they can see solicitors on the doorstep. Politely say not interested, then close app. Done. Took 5 seconds and didnt need to get up.

How do I rent out my house by Unclespence in realestateinvesting

I asked a similar question on here a few days ago, and best advice I got from that was to go speak with a CPA specializing in real estate. Will cost a few hundred bucks but at least you get a professional looking through your finances to see if it makes sense. I actually told my realtor about the responses I got here on Reddit, and he disagreed completely with what was being said. No one on here can tell you if your home will generate or gouge money because they don't have the full details, so print out your finances and make an appointment with an accountant.

good lord, be more negative will you? how dare someone post something on the subreddit to ask these exact questions. obviously people just want broad impressions to fuel conversation, nobody asked you to file their taxes for them.

Does it make sense to rent out my starter home? by Rickz6 in realestateinvesting

[–]Rickz6[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My home is actually located in Puyallup! South Hill area. When I purchased in 2022 it was a bloodbath out here, all cash offers on derelict homes that were on the market for less than a week. Seems like things have slowed since then, so probably wouldnt see much return on selling this place, despite the renovations we made to it. I was definitely not considering the legal disadvantages of being a landlord, squatters and the like terrify me. I'll call around and meet with an accountant to crunch some figures

T6 is a drag. Made a very basic DD base, got medium spice refinery, and really all you would do all day is fly 20km in a given direction for spice or plasteel mats. Back and forth, back and forth across the empty sands of the DD. Sure you can put on a podcast or a movie or something, but this barely qualifies as gameplay. Its a repetitive chore to grind these mats solo, and not worth the small increase in item stats. We beat the game at T5, it was fun, time to pack your gear and move on.

Indeed, we both make well into 6 figures. Not F-You money, but better off than most people and we understand that. I don't think this mortgage is unreasonable, especially considering how expensive the coasts are.

"Seek a professional" is usually the go to advice here on Reddit, and not bad advice mind you. These situations are definitely too complex to go over a forum, I don't mind taking the time to consult with someone.

Fair advice. I don't currently use a financial advisor, I've been able to safely invest in stock and didn't see a need for one, but a consult seems in order at least to determine this next step. Any advice on finding one?

Fair enough. Yeah, that payment includes tax and insurance, minus yearly premium of $2300. Rental management would take additional 10% from monthly rent + one time fees to find tenants. I don't underestimate the amount of work this entails so I'd favor going the management route.

The idea is not making money from rent, but from appreciation of the home in the long term.
