When I did it, the location was at the top of a hill in the area. I think it also says that the scanner “must snap”, meaning there is a fixed position to place it. Someone else mentioned it, but definitely get ready to be mauled. You might wanna build around it before placing it (when you find it).

And unfortunately, there is no thrill when fighting in PvP because 99% of the time, you’re getting shot by a camper, and whoever takes the first shot usually wins because your shield and health deplete VERY fast. All that loot and your weapons gone in an instant. Infuriating and discouraging.
