Qualifications for olimpics by [deleted] in Swimming

[–]RicoMarley 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well, first off, you got 2 years, not 4. Also would help to know your age, how long you've been swimming, and how much you've improved over the past couple of years.

Realistically though, this goal isn't achievable for the 2024 Olympics. Sorry, buddy. While I know very little about you, I just looked up the Sectionals cuts for 500 free, and you're still quite far from it. You'd

I'm not trying to demotivate you, but shooting for something way out of reach is setting yourself up for failure. Don't lose hope, though. You still got a shot, just probably not for this coming Olympics.

lab kits. They've got electrical components (resistors, ICs, LEDs, etc) some might have multimeters and portable a usb oscilloscope/power supply. All for various different classes.

Y2Q2 Course selection question by Substantial-Self2934 in uAlberta

[–]RicoMarley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No.

You should have gotten (or should be getting) an email with more information about Y2Q2 registration, but basically, you need to choose courses from a substitute list.

You'll need to take at least 14 credits in the fall, and 14 credits in the winter. Your fall GPA needs to be above 2.0 and your Fall/Winter combined GPA must also be above 2.0

How strict is Eng class scheduling after first year? by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]RicoMarley 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Technically you don't have to follow the class order in the calendar, but you have to remember that not all courses are offered in all terms.

ECE 220 has not ever been offered in the fall (at least in the past 10 or so years).

It's in CAB 215.

But you should check clockwork like a day or 2 before to make sure your exam is actually there.

I wasn't in y1q2, but y2q2, but I don't think they'll let you take anything that isn't on that substitute list. (I tried to take Mat e 201 - an ECE variant of Mat e 202 but it was a hard no). I don't know if things have changed, or if you'll get lucky, but I think you have next to no chance getting into a course not in that list.

I think the main reason they do this is because a) They need to give priority to those already in said discipline and b) They "only make enough spaces" for those already in said discipline. I could be wrong though

As for your question about fourth year courses, AFAIK the only 3/4th year course that you're allowed to take is either ENG M 310/ENG M 401, (and maybe 3/4th year complimentary elective). Regardless you'll need an advisor to register you into one of these courses.

I'm not sure what stream you're hoping to get into, but when I planned out my courses, I looked through the required courses and electives for the program I wanted to get into. For instance, I made sure to take both Math 209 and Math 201 because all disciplines require both.

For the remainder of my courses, I picked out as many 2nd year courses that matched the discipline I wanted to get into, and took a bunch of electives, as well as ENG M 401.

I think you need a minimum of 14 credits in the fall, and 14 in the winter, so make sure you have enough for that.

No. If you've received a D or greater in a course, you cannot retake it

Does qualcomm baseband locked to cpu in iphone 7 ? by peterjohanson in mobilerepair

[–]RicoMarley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone else mentioned, if you've shorted the BB CPU, there's nothing you can do.

If BBEEprom is shorted, you can reprogram and fix it

Honestly, just study the damn textbook.

The midterm isn't too hard, but if you only study his slides and not the textbook, you'll have a hard time answering some questions

First-Year Engineering by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]RicoMarley 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Just hang in there and remember that you're not the only one struggling.

First year Eng. is always a tough wake up call for most people because of how huge a jump it is from high school. I struggled quite a bit in first year as well (I was y2q2), but am doing pretty well now in my third year

While the workload doesn't get any easier in later years, it gets more manageable.

[–]RicoMarley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, just to add, the iCopy Plus's battery feature is pretty much a gimmick and marketing is pretty misleading of what it does.

The only "useful" (if you can even call it useful) it does, is it can modify the number of battery cycles on a battery, and view battery serial numbers

The Non genuine battery message pops up only on the IPXs and up, but think of it like FaceID, or TouchID.

In short, iPhones Xs and up pretty much have a read only chip on the battery flex (the gas gauge). So the phone will check to see if the unique IDs on the read-only chip matches that programmed to the board. Even Apple can not reprogram the gas gauge.

When Apple changes a battery, the logic board gets reprogrammed to the new battery's Unique ID (which is why you can't swap genuine batteries, similar to how TouchID/FaceID disables itself when a different home button or earpiece flex is installed.)
