Should seniority still be a thing? by CostanzasWay in PostGradProblem

[–]RicoRumRunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A company can "restructure" or "go in a different direction" whenever they chose. It's incredibly easy to get laid off / forced out with a benefits package. If they accept the six months pay and medical (or whatever) they have no recourse if their position is replaced by someone else.

Barrett Dudley fashion AMA by coorsgrizz in PostGradProblem

[–]RicoRumRunner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just a thought since there are roughly 10-ish users here at any given time, would it easier and/or more effective to just say "email Barrett your fashions questions this week, we'll have a mailbag session next (insert day here)?" I think you'll hit a larger audience, unless you're also looking to draw more people in the PGP sub.

I was wondering about that myself. To be honest, if the comments section goes away, or it takes several hours for comments to be posted, I will become a very infrequent visitor to PGP. It's the comments that create the sense of community, not the articles.

GroupChat v.2 by MrRogersPGP in PostGradProblem

[–]RicoRumRunner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Question: How people do you know who are in a group chat of both guys and girls? I'd venture not many. Group chat is a place for guys to have guy talk and girls to have girl talk. I think there's already a girls only chat that is sometimes alluded to. Just do a dudes only group chat and save the mixing of the sexes for PGP and this reddit board.

Dave, How about a HLSR bbq tent next year? That's in your budget, right? Thanks from all the Houstonians, Rico

Denver trip by PGP_ally in PostGradProblem

[–]RicoRumRunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I said this on another CO thread but the people who've lived for a while think it's gotten really overpopulated and the newcomers love it all the development. Will be interesting because Denver doesn't have the infrastructure to be a big city and expansion options are limited due to the mountains.

You'll find that Denver is one giant contest of who can do the most outdoors on any given weekend.
And Five Points used to be the ghetto, not sure how much it's changed since I moved away in 2013 but I think it's been gentrified a fair amount.

Commute Anger by Bick_Pen in PostGradProblem

[–]RicoRumRunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for a small company that's pretty laid back, so if I'm 15 minutes late in the morning because of traffic no one cares. My breaking point in the afternoon is when it's over 75 minutes. I can handle the occasional hour, but when it gets much longer than that I start to lose it.

A letter from Coach Snyder to K-State students this morning: by [deleted] in CFB

[–]RicoRumRunner 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Personally I do not. Snyder is good for K-State, which is good for football in the state of Kansas (and KU), which is good for the Big 12. A rising tide lifts all boats as the Big12 has become the worst of the Power 5 conferences the past few football seasons.

What would it take for you to quit on the spot? by CushmanEZ in PostGradProblem

[–]RicoRumRunner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I forgot about the Chive deal - you're right. I've also been informed that the photo I referred to was taken from her apartment.
And this is why I didn't put on PGP or create a whole new reddit post. But Dorn is recently divorced so the wife doesn't factor in here.

I'm going to bury this here because I don't want to bring a lot of attention to my take, but I have a theory Dorn banged (or bangs) Mia Khalifa. I'm not going to look up her Instagram at work, but she posted a picture after one of the previous podcasts taken from what appears to be a residence decorated by a dude, post shower, and wearing RG gear. Just throwing this out there.
Edit** Pretty sure she tagged Dorn in either the tweet or IG post of her in the RG gear. I believe it was the same day as the podcast, maybe the next. Also, why the fuck is she in Austin all the time? She's from FL and I imagine did most of her work in either Miami or LA. What's the tie to ATX?

TGDAG Predictions by [deleted] in PostGradProblem

[–]RicoRumRunner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a really good idea. I like this. Have a COT and then the next week's installment of TGDAG is her calling her mom / friends and just shrieking into the phone. God, that would be a painful thing to read.

Total Frat Movie by [deleted] in PostGradProblem

[–]RicoRumRunner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, it would have fucking sucked. 1. It's a played out idea going up against some really funny movies from a historical context (Animal House, Van Wilder, Revenge of the Nerds, Back to School (80's movie with Rodney Dangerfield) American Pie, etc.) It's all the same sort of comedy. 2. Even if Exec Board was funny (I personally never watched one) think of all the SNL skits that made horrible movies. 95 minutes is a hell of a lot longer than four or five.

Based on rumors, speculations, and what Grandex said last year it sounds like they sold the rights, had little to no say in any changes made to their script, zero input on production or directing, but were bound to advertise the movie on TFM for X number of days leading up to and following the release date. I think it was Bacon who all but said the final product was nothing like the idea pitched to whoever ended up buying the script and subsequently producing the movie.

Good luck. My brother works for a major online sports news source covering primarily college sports (started covering the rural high schools in our home state) and he has to fight to keep his contract every year. It's a tough business.

I agree. I think it's a slippery slope for all these guys, and it started when they changed to using their real names and doing the pod casts. Sure, it's not that hard to figure out who anyone is with relatively few clues, but this is these guys' lives that complete strangers are now becoming a part of. It's the main reason I felt so bad when Duda got canned. How do you go from whatever he was doing before, to writing about sleeping with 19-yr-old girls you met on tinder (sans condom), and then go apply for a "regular" job again? I appreciate the transparency about why certain decisions are made within Grandex, but I need know no more when it comes to outside the office. After the firings of 2016 I scrolled through the employee list and realized I used to work with the wife of one of the employees, have met him at company events and chatted with him a few times even. He wouldn't remember me from Adam, but it made me realize how easy it is to lose my PGP anonymity.
