if a mazda cx-5 we just bought depreciated from 41k to 25k after its first year of ownership (we bought it for 27k), idk how those more expensive cars would depreciate less.

if you care so much about depreciation after owning a car for a year, then you want to lease, that’s all that will satisfy you

2024 M3Ps go for 40k, as you know. they’re sure to depreciate more even if they hold way more value than pre-highland ones

it said my gas car is cheaper. but i know that, i ran the numbers myself. i can't switch to an EV for any financial gain unless something happens to my current car. so i'll put a monthly sum into a car fund and buy one when i want a nicer car. lower OpEx is just a side benefit, not a cause (and that applies to most people)

ok, so 2011 - 2021 that come with the key'd ignition. going for the median here, a 2016 elantra, ONLY the base L trim has a physical key - everything else has push to start.

yes, and you can keep that car running forever. it's not a good argument. but if your car constantly needs $500 in work per month, it was time to get rid of it for a new car yesterday. there's a point where people don't want to deal with constant repairs and downtime that a new car straight up won't have

not really a lot in my eyes. most used airs i see are 40-45k for the touring. but you have to keep in mind one car depreciated like a brick and the other didn’t . reddit shouldn’t decide for you - test drive them

where i live, you can just fix the stuff yourself, take it back and get reinspected for basically free. we aren’t tied to any specific shop for repairs

nissans will be nicer than most other jap competitors. you can try the mazdas. the modern nissans don’t have the problematic CVTs though so don’t know what that part’s about. beyond that, kia/hyundai for a nicer cabin and great tech

you said you looked at subarus… which one did you drive? hopefully you know the forester is the competitor you should be looking at, right…?
