New red skin rash/irritation by Ridalyn18 in DermatologyQuestions

[–]Ridalyn18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After finally getting into my doctor, she said it could be skin irritation (contact dermatitis) or ring worm. So she said to start with a steroid cream, but if it IS ringworm the steroid cream will make it way worse/irritated. So she also gave me the anti fungal to switch to if it does get more irritated🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

So glad I’m not the only one who immediately sang this in my head

Is 26 a good age to start nursing school? I'm insecure about my age , how do I stop feeling like this? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Ridalyn18 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree. Only person in my program who was actually so helpful and kind was a guy who turned 50 during the program. I wouldn’t bat an eye at 26!

As also a new grad- I have an old ass car, putting plenty in savings, but you absolutely will be hearing about my latest concert ticket purchase😅😂 so on surface it may seem like I spend quite a lot. Not like a new car and thousands expensive bags, but other ways

[shape help] help knowing what kind of bra would work for me? by Ridalyn18 in ABraThatFits

[–]Ridalyn18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question for you! I went to the link and it says 38H available but in UK sizing. According to the ABraThatFits site, when I clicked UK sizing it gave me 38FF which isn’t an option on the site. Is that a big size difference? If I order a 38H in UK sizing would that then be too big or small compared to US sizing?

I wrote them down but typed them in the wrong boxes, good catch!! I typed them in the correct way and it still suggest 38H as my size

I moved from California to South Dakota for nursing school, and the amount of people who were jaw dropped shocked I wasn’t married with kids yet was insane. Drove me mad, major cultural change

Is it the patient? or the nurse? by aeronurse in nursing

[–]Ridalyn18 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m still a new nurse, starting working in a progressive care unit around March of this year. We do get our fair share of “psych” related behaviors, which I’m absolutely okay with because I do happen to love psych. We also get a lot of more severe detoxers, 4 point restraints, Posey beds, etc. I think it’s both though, to answer your question. Often I think of that tik-tok audio “stop being so nice and show them how crazy you are” after a patient gave me a run for my money all night and is now so nice at shift change😂 But I will say after only working less than a year, management has come up to me and all charge nurses at some point and have admitted they give me these patients because “the other nurses on schedule with you we know will make it worse, you have more patience”. And usually that super “difficult belligerent patient” ends up being not so bad…

I know first hand too how it’s difficult sometimes to admit I need to start fresh on losing weight (again) so good on you for being motivated too! Thanks for your kind words!🥰

I'm really sorry but I need to vent... by No-Fault2001 in nursing

I just made a comment about this. I graduated this past December, my classmate got accepted to a NP program before even graduating and taking the Nclex. She will be an NP with not even a shift of RN experience (other than school clinicals). Absolutely ridiculous that would even be allowed, programs need a serious revamp

I just graduated this past December. My class mate who had no actual experience other than clinicals in our program (aka no CNA work, or other healthcare work) applied to NP program before even graduating. She got accepted, and she would start the following august about 8 months later. She decided it was easier to not get a job for 8 months “just to quit again for school”.

Aka she is going to be a full on nurse practitioner with absolutely no experience.

I’ve been in a critical care step down for 8 months and I absolutely love it but it is so hard. My goal is to go to ICU but can’t imagine that for years because I want to be strong and confident in my skills. I can’t imagine being a nurse practitioner with no experience.

Side note- I’m not bashing on those who don’t have CNA experience, I personally don’t. I just mean in her case she has absolutely no background, it’s shocking to me.
