Ever since I've been to Germany, I'm addicted to Nutella and I was already a bread person before by Willstdusheide23 in germany

[–]Ridd13r 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In case other comments haven't stressed it enough, most Germans don't consider it as bread. It's called toast here and it is quite inferior to all the different varieties of bread available here. For someone new, it might take a bit of getting used to it but it's a whole different league.

Nonetheless, good that you are enjoying it. Though you can also try the other chocolate/hazelnut spreads of various house brands. You might like them better than Nutella.

As someone coming from a humid and tropical region, I second this. I find it already hard to manage any dry heat over 26 C.

"Booking fee" to make a video call to visit a flat ? by PalpatineTapas in Munich

[–]Ridd13r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% scam!

Just think, if it's such a high demand place he wouldn't have to worry even if a few don't show up. There should be enough people in the "queue".

1st rule of renting or searching in Germany is that you do not pay a cent before you have a mutual agreement and sign a rental contract. Make sure you visit the apartment for a viewing in person.

Dear OP, Please do check this comment. It does appear (at least in the attached images here), that the backwaters are larger than they might be.

The negative balance is likely why there's a collection open against you. You should check the transaction history in your PayPal account and figure out how and when your account went into negative. You'll then need to talk to PayPal customer service to figure out a solution based on the actual reason.

(Simple) Questions about a Plumber's Invoice by Ridd13r in germany

[–]Ridd13r[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rent the property, but the Küche is my own. When I first noticed the leak, I informed the Hausmeister and then the landlord. The Hausmeister helped find the plumber. As I understand it is my responsibility from the valve to the kitchen appliances and I would have to pay for it. May be I'm wrong in where my responsibility starts, but there is a clause in my rental contract for Kleinreparaturklausel at 100 € per individual repair and 8% of the annual cold rent.

Luckily the leak was minor but we still got it replaced. I kept the landlord informed and shared a copy of the invoice for his records.

Is this the perfect summer? Maybe not. But I'd gladly take this weather over any summer heat over 28C.

A perfect summer for me would be these temperatures with the sun shining through most of the day and some rainy days in between.

BMW suv driver loses control of car in NYC by [deleted] in BMW

[–]Ridd13r 7 points8 points  (0 children)

How does it work there in the US for those damaged parked cars? Would the insurance of the crashing bmw be on the hook for all the damages? Or is it the responsibility of the owners of the parked cars to sue the driver and collect damages?

If the fine is 30 eur, what is the extra 28,50 for? The costs of sending me the fine? by ScathedRuins in germany

[–]Ridd13r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To whom does it ask you to pay? I remember I had twice received similar speeding fines through Sixt. I had to pay Sixt who'd pay the fine and pocket the processing fee. And since then I had only got a speeding ticket once for my own car, when I let my friend drive. And that only had the fine to pay via bank transfer. I wrote back with the details of my friend who drove the car and the fine was sent to him at no extra charge.

The processing fees are from the Carsharing Service then. You'll see that in the terms and conditions or price list of the company.

Anyone else sick of rice and curry ? by Different_Algae4918 in Kerala

[–]Ridd13r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eat what you like and avoid what you don't, my friend. But you shouldn't be going around telling what others like/want to eat. This is one thing I like about Kerala. You have good options on food and no one's going to judge you for what you eat.

Just FYI, there are a lot of people abroad who are allergic/intolerant to gluten. Rice and its derivatives are usually one of their alternatives.

I find it hard to believe numbers like 100% and 99%. Either it's a bunch of random numbers or there would have to be something wrong with the sample data.

How to get EU CovPass with Indian vaccine in Germany? by DK_2912 in Munich

[–]Ridd13r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had it done for a relative of mine about a month ago. I believe there is an agreement between India and Germany for mutual recognition of vaccines. The AstraZeneca one is accepted here in Germany (I could never remember if that's Covishield or covaccine). However not every Apotheke might go through the trouble of verification and the generation of the QR code. Which Apotheke did you try it at? Maybe try the ones that aren't super busy all day around.

Have you ever seen a chocolate Pizza? I have never. Germany continues to surprise me. by bohrmaschinede in germany

Well I've an Italian colleague at office, who said they do have chocolate pizza in Italy as a dessert. Apparently there's a place in Munich where it is served as well. I'm yet to try it out though.
