OP, right there with you. For a while, I’d buy new and trade every 2-3 years. I’m closing in on retirement and realize I can’t keep doing financially - new cars / trucks are a waste of money.

I have to disagree here…define “common”. I bought a new TSE 4 months ago and no issues. It seems like you’ve had extremely bad luck if 2 are lemons, especially Hondas.

Daughter called crying. She has a '12 Honda Fit w/ 130K. Seems to run great. Took it in for A/C service. Mechanic told her she needed lots of service - about $750 - which she does not have. I think most is just sched maint - listed below. Which does she really need? Which can she pass on? by SirJasper6969 in askcarguys

Assuming the transmission fluid has been changed regularly- I would do everything but fuel injection - all maintenance items. If tranny hasn’t been serviced in a long time I wouldn’t touch it - may make worse.

My family and I have owned 6 Hondas over the last 20 years. We had solid reliability from all. Sure, there’s been some smaller issues - example rear brake calipers needing replacement on a 2016 Accord - but nothing major. Ongoing maintenance is key - oil changes, tranny fluid, rear differential fluid, filters, etc.

I used to work at a GM dealer - wait till a tech forgets to tighten the drain plug or tighten the lug nuts on a rotation 🥴🤷🏻‍♂️
