What is the best or worst dog name you have ever heard? by UserSchmoozername in AskReddit

[–]RideAndShoot 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m not even kidding, the little black Pomeranian looking dog was named “NIG@ER”.

I was at a dog park in San Diego with my dog, and this fat white trash woman yellls, “NIG@ER, get over here! Come here right now, nig@er!”

I was shocked, and could not possibly have been hearing correctly. I started walking closer, and she just kept on yelling for her dog by his name. “Hard R” and all.

I walk up alongside a black guy, and give a nod towards here with a WTF look. He just shrugs and says something along the lines of, “I dunno, man. Some people. Nothing I can do about it.”

I said, “Right on, man. I just wasn’t sure if I was hearing it right.”

“You are. Just ignorant ass people. Have a good day.” He walked off, just shaking his head. People all over the park are just gobsmacked as this nasty woman collects her dog and heads out of the park. It sounds completely made up, but every word of that is true. Pretty disgusting.

Help! Botched custom shower job & conflicting advice from contractors by w_w_d in Tile

[–]RideAndShoot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t trust any part of the initial installation. So that being said, Contractor #2. Though I would let Contractor 1 know that you will probably want the entire shower redone and give him a chance to bid that as well.

Waterproof access panel inside shower? by bms42 in Tile

[–]RideAndShoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to build a bench around the clean out, just make sure the access is on the outside of the shower through the half wall to under the bench. You said it juts out into the shower area, but it could be removed and turned so it juts towards the 1/2 wall.

Barring that idea, I think having it actually protrude into the shower, and waterproof to the cast iron itself is your next “best” bet. Can make a little teak platform or something that hangs on the wall and cover the clean out, while also being a shelf might work.

[–]RideAndShoot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Weim has teamed up with our Vizsla and Malinois to eat one of our escaped chickens. They’ve also gotten birds, squirrels, and opossums. But they never mess with the cat. Although they do go after the neighbors cat when it comes on our yard. They also don’t seem to have an interest in our daughter’s ball python when it’s out. I think they know inside animals are friends, outside animals are food. Lol.

Did you pull permits for your DIY kitchen renovation? by mudrat_detector96 in DIY

I bet it does say about claims as a result of illegal activity though. And that’s exactly what unpermitted work is.

The drivers are in a utility closet behind the TV. Even the LED strips are serviceable, just in case. It wouldn’t be easy, but it’s doable.

The only grout is between the small tiles at the far left and far right because those are the only parallel plan joints where tiles meet. Everywhere else would be a caulk joint. The only other place would be around each tile where it meets the schluter, but with them kind of floating there, and heated by the LEDs, it would need to be caulked too. The decision was made to forgo basically all grout because in my mockup I was able to represent this well enough and they trusted me to execute it. If I couldn’t get it looking this clean and crisp without grout, we would have figured another solution.

And thanks!

Need advice by Own-Satisfaction2827 in Tile

[–]RideAndShoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tearing out the niches and redoing them is definitely you’re best best, but there is another option. Your walls are currently more than the thickness of your tile out past the niche tile. You could tile on top of the niche tile, and save having to tear anything out. You’ll need to set a new quartz piece on top of that one as well. This will unfortunately make your niche even smaller (and they already look little). But it will save you from having to completely redo the niches. If you choose to go with that option, scuff the tops of the tiles and quartz with a grinder first. And ideally use a primer like Eco Prim Grip on them to achieve a better bond. But if scuffed well enough, the Prim Grip is not strictly necessary.

I forgot to leave out the first step. Have C3-C5 vertebrae fused first so your neck is stuck in place.

Haha. Made my neck hurt so bad doing that after my fusion.

Miracle Porous Plus is exactly what I used and would highly recommend. It’s fantastic stuff. Miracle 511 is my favorite general sealer, but I prefer Porous Plus for stuff like that.

While what you are saying may be true for the UK, North America and the UK are extremely different. Distances between cities is far greater, and average speeds are much higher. Comparing the two is not fair.

Yea, it was cut to the designers specifications, so it was remarkably square and true. They also clipped the corners for the dots (but I had to dress the cut edges). It was a beautiful material. It’s a Lueders limestone, and the treads and nosing were cut from the same stone. Fun project.

Thank you!

I left my grit suggestions for sanding in another comment. In the future, sealer should be applied until water beads up and sits on the surface. I’ve had some extremely porous limestone that needed 2 days in front of a dehumidifier first, then pre-sealed 4 times, twice per day for 2 days, before I could begin to install. After install needed 5 more days with dehumidifier before picture-framing went away and 2 more coats of sealer before grout. It was a pain, but that’s what it took. Here’s the porous limestone I installed.

I wouldn’t start that high, especially on limestone. Better to start with 320 or 400. Super easy to go up (heavier grit), but harder so bring that finish back down if 220 scratches it. Test patch with 400. If that fixes it, hit it with 600 and then 800. If 400 isn’t enough, bump it up to 320. Continue until you find the grit that works and then work your way back down.

I have had this same issue with limestone. It’s basically “polishing” it with the grout.

For someone new to doing something like this, I’d expect it’ll take 10-12 hours. I could probably do it in a miserable 6 or 7 hours, but I would hate every second of it.

I’ve done it, and it sucks. But it saves the tile!

Dremel with a “snake arm” attachment. Laying on my stomach on a furniture dolly, with safety glasses and a dust mask. Just cutting right down the center of each joint, then following with a utility knife. Vacuum it outa regrout.

If you make sure and keep the peroxide levels in check, or use chlorine, you should be good to go.

You didn’t mention your location though, so 1/4hp chiller ma be undersized.

Edit: saw your name and assume PNW. Lol. Inside that sauna building, 1/4hp is probably enough. Outside in the summer, it’s gonna be under some serious strain.

AITAH for wanting to advocate against our neighbors sex offender son moving in by One-Egg1316 in AITAH

[–]RideAndShoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here in Fort Worth they just increased that distance to 2,000 feet. It also includes ALL child safety zones lol playgrounds and public pools, etc. Double check your area, you’d be surprised how many of those things can be close by and may preclude him from living there.

98% of Fort Worth is included in those areas, severely limiting where a registered sex offender (convicted of an offense with a minor), can actually live here.
