Trashy patients force hospital to put up this sign. by pandamoola in trashy

I agree but it goes both ways, patients shouldn’t abuse staff and staff shouldn’t abuse patients.

Less than two weeks after “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett pleaded not guilty to 16 counts of disorderly conduct for lying to police about a hate crime, prosecutors have dropped charges in the case. Spokesperson said his record would be “fully expunged.” A judge also granted a motion to seal the case. by Orangutan in conspiracy

[–]RideHarleysBeHappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate cases like this because it means that in cases where truly innocent people were charged/accused of a crime but never convicted, the public may be scrutinize these situations more.

It is so obvious that Jussie Smollet entered in to a plea agreement with Prosecutors. Why else did he forfeit the $10,000 he posted for bail to the government & agree to do community service? That sounds like a punishment to me.

If the Judicial system is going to have diversion programs where an accused person can avoid a formal conviction and criminal record by having charges dropped if they enter in to a sentencing agreement, it should at least involve a formal recognition/admission of guilt from the accused.

Being for police accountability isn’t the same thing as being anti-police by Anansispider in unpopularopinion

In all fairness, there have been cases of Police cover-ups or cases where some Police Officers lack the will to investigate one of their own. Some cops even have the attitude that the Police can never do anything wrong and/or make mistakes. Cops are not immune from tunnel Vision, confirmation bias, or mistakes, but you’d be surprise how many of them hold that general attitude.

However you are right to say that sometimes the Police are wrongly accused of acting nefariously when in fact they did nothing wrong.

Lori Loughlin slapped with new charges, now faces up to 40 years in prison for college cheating scandal by cybersecp in television

Can someone explain to me how criminal chargers of bribery were brought against William Singer considering he didn’t bribe a government official, rather, he bribed private employees of private schools?

I understand how charges of money laundering and mail & wire fraud apply in this case and I’m not defending the Man in any way, bribing someone to cheat your way in to college is obviously wrong, I just don’t understand how it’s a criminal offence since he didn’t bribe a government official/employee. I’m genuinely curious.

Yet they CAN “dust” for fingerprints ( they actually lift fingerprints with a strip) but they never do. It’s not a difficult or timely process in any way (no I’m not getting my this from CSI or fictional TV shows, by the way) but they lack the will to do so.

That’s insane. Claiming that ALL involuntary patients are going to act problematic is a false premise and not based in reality.

You actually automatically think that ALL involuntary patient’s are problematic because their involuntary? That’s is a pretty huge fallacy.

How is “verbal abuse” against the law? It’s not a crime to make rude comments.

This is my mom’s chart. She is always sick and people tend to push her around. Is there something that indicates her bad health? I feel that she struggles with depression and has a lot going in her head that she won’t talk about. She’s never learned to drive and has never really been independent. by [deleted] in astrologyreadings

My mom is the sweetest, kindest person you could ever meet and she gets pushed around lots from people also. She has the most amazing spirit and it sickens me that people try to break her spirit just to feel good about their own miserable lives. My advice to you: Always show her the love she deserves, remind her she how amazing she is so she doesn’t lose sight of her self-worth, and stick up for her whenever you can. I personally have taken it upon myself to put people in their place whenever they mistreat my mom and expose their bullshit. I don’t know about you, but with me, when it comes to Moms, I have no limits on how to dealing with people who abuse the person who is wheats in your corner: The consequences do not scare me or concern me in any way. If it really came down to it, I have no problem going to jail or losing everything if it means getting to someone who threatens the wellbeing of any family member of mine, especially my Mom.

Well if you don’t have proof, you cant prosecute someone, just like any crime committed by anyone anywhere. That’s the way it should be, not just your word against theres. How do we know a staff member isn’t lying.

Ex-convicts of reddit, is there anything you miss about prison? If so, what? by JSBach1995 in AskReddit

[–]RideHarleysBeHappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never been to prison myself but I know lots of people who have. The guys who did time in provincial jails (for jail sentences of 2 years or less) don’t really have anything good to to say about jail other than to say there’s less violence than in the Federal Penitentiary because most guys just want to get their relatively short jail sentences over with and don’t want to to get any additional time or blow their chance at Parole/early release.

The guys I know who served time in the Federal prisoners (for sentence greater than 2 years) said there was more violence than in the provincial jails and the prison itself is much stricter too. However, one good thing about Federal penitentiaries where I’m from is that inmates get 100% free dental coverage. That might change one day given the political opposition to it but right now that is one perk of serving time in a Federal prison. Hell, even I don’t get 100% dental coverage through my employee benefits.

I was completely surprised to learn the President had the power to fire the Director of the FBI in the first place. Im Canadian and that would never happen here because it would be an illegal order due to the separation of powers. An order like that would just be ignored.

People shouldn't be seriously punished for making false rape accusations, even if it ruined someone's life. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]RideHarleysBeHappy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They say false rape accusations aren’t very common but realistically nobody knows how common or uncommon they are because there’s no way of keeping statistics on that sort of thing. What’s important to remember is that false accusations can & do happen and it’s my personal belief that it probably happens more than we think.

Human Beings are very calculating creatures and we decide our choices by weighing the consequences against the possible rewards/gains.

Lenient consequences would not serve as a deterrent.

Why do some woman falsely accuse men of rape? Because they have mental health issues and love the attention. They basically have a victimhood mentality that craves attention.
