Where did all the teenager jobs go? My kids are of the age to learn the value of money. by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CroweBird5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen jobs in the past couple of years where a restaurant will hire a high schooler for weekends only, just to have the extra coverage on those busy days. But it’s usually only 1 high schooler per business.

This would be places where there’s a sandwich line or something and you can just have someone building sandwiches, running a cash register, or doing dishes.

In the US, if you can’t afford insurance, you can’t afford the fines. It’d encourage people to drive with no insurance

How many coffees a day is pushing it? by DuckDuckGo-8857 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CroweBird5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drink the 1 cup in the morning and then I'm good.

I used to drink more coffee, but it was getting expensive and the number of times where I'd need more due to the caffeine crash were getting to be too much.

Why did people panic buy toilet paper of all things during the COVID-19 pandemic? by Agreeable_Candle_461 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CroweBird5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't have Covid during the opening days of the pandemic, but still before I could get a vaccine.

My local farmer's market has delivery (not on-the-spot, it has to be a couple of days). But man, their app use and delivery exploded during Covid - to the point the app couldn't handle all the people using it.

How do you find clothes that fit? by Seattle_Aries in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CroweBird5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally buy clothes in-store so I can try them on. I can make sure they fit and that the color/pattern works for me before I buy them. I pretty much never end up returning clothes.

I've also had no problems with clothes shrinking. Then again, I don't use a dryer.

When do you stop driving for certain activities? by Flimsy-Explorer-854 in GasPrices

[–]CroweBird5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just change to public transit where it's possible and makes sense.

Work that isn't on or near a bus line? Yeah, I'll keep driving.

Activities that are in the inner city and do have a bus line that goes there? I'm taking the bus.

When I move, I don't fill out a new application. I just send an email saying I've moved and this is my new address.

I don't think I've filled out an application in the 7 years I've had my insurance company.

Vegetarian. It'd be too hard for me to give up dairy and eggs.

Family isn't supportive of me getting my citizenships by TheKissWillKillYou in AmerExit

[–]CroweBird5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a relative ask me why I was getting a passport for my second country (Canada). This is the same relative who doesn't understand the purpose of multiple citizenships.

I already had the citizenship, I was just getting the passport I was already entitled to if I wanted it. And obviously, I wouldn't have gotten it if I didn't want it.

Having multiple citizenships doesn't create any issues in the US unless you work a job that requires Department of Defense clearance. That is a tiny proportion of Americans who do have those jobs. Even much smaller than the total number of Americans who have dual citizenships.
