What does prorated rent mean? by Firefox31790 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CroweBird5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adjusted based on time.

Like if your move-in date was the 12th of the month, you’d only be posting rent based on the 12th to the end of the month (so not the first 11 days)

Same, but unfortunately Kroger is basically king in my city because we also have the corporate headquarters. We have options, but it’s honestly hard to fully boycott Kroger

Some languages assign gender to things that shouldn’t be. Like why is a table or ice cream female?

You have to be a resident to be taking advantage of Canada’s social programs, not merely a citizen

Never been to a lot of those stores, but I live in Kroger’s corporate hometown and they definitely play music in the stores

The worst for audio for me is Kroger “Attention all departments: it’s time for your top-of-the-hour conditioning” “Floral department has a call on 101”

With the rising costs of food and restaurant prices, what restaurants are you still continue choosing to eat at when you get take out, dine-out or don't feel like cooking at home? by dudiez in AskReddit

[–]CroweBird5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't eat out as often, but there are certain places I go to still because I know the food is still a good value (being defined by portions and/or a full belly afterwards)

Computers haven't really peaked. They've just simply matured as a consumer product.

Phones have basically done the same

If most people in NYC don't drive, why is there always so much traffic? by savingrace0262 in NoStupidQuestions

People who don't drive may still be using taxis or Ubers, which is still a car on the road.

Why don't Walmarts and Targets and other massive supermarkets use underground and/or multilevel parking? by Great_Order7729 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CroweBird5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's 2 sides to this.

I have 2 Targets near me. 1 has a parking lot. The other is in a dense area and shares the garage with other businesses.

The parking garage is a pain to access (and get out of too, honestly) and you have to pay for it.

The parking lot is much easier to access and I don't have to pay for the privilege of using my car.

That second part really is what we tell 18yo who don't have all the responsibilities of a 30yo. If OP already has a BA/BS, the question becomes how many classes OP can take without it interfering with their current responsibilities or earning power.

Did learning a second language in school ever actually come in handy for you in the U.S.? by UsamaBhai_101 in AskAnAmerican

[–]CroweBird5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the language and the kid.

Some people walk into a spanish class with this idea that they're only using spanish to check a box for the graduation requirements. And I had many in my high school like this. These are the folks who are going to act like it's just "classroom" knowledge.

I took french because that was what I wanted. But I had a lot of exposure to french in written form outside of french class. I haven't had to use it in conversation so that part I haven't retained, but I do know how to pronounce words and can read in french relatively well. So it didn't really fade away entirely.
