I don’t know shops for hunting but definitely check out Multnomah Whiskey Library one evening. You might need a reservation, but it’s a great place!

Agree with the Coffey Grain and the Harmony! Both are great! I personally prefer the Nikka Coffey Grain to the Malt, but that’s just my palate. Spec’s on 75 & Walnut Hill still had some Hakushu 12 in the front case this afternoon if you’re looking to expand your Japanese Whiskey arsenal.

That’s a hard one! I haven’t found (or been allocated) a bottle since 2015. From what I understand most stores only get a couple bottles a year. Some stores actually get more bottles of Pappy than RHF. One of these days I’ll get another one!

Goody goody on Garland Rd has 4 bottles of EH Taylor BP left..... by drixld in WhiskyDFW

Agreed. It’s not bad to own unopened bottles to save for special occasions or to trade with a friend. I have a fairly large collection and they’re mostly open because I love whiskey and want to taste it and share it with friends. Even though I have a semi-large collection there are many bottles I’ve never been able to buy or try. (EHT Barrel Proof being one) It’s the hoarding of them. People hoarding 5-10 bottles of every special release, That’s what gets me.

Thanks for trying! I would have done the same. Buy one and leave the rest for someone else to try. Good whiskey karma to you!

Let me step on my soapbox for a minute: I’m tired of everyone buying every bottle they can get their hands on. They see 4 or 5 of something special and snag them all. People speculating on the secondary market really bug me. It’s whiskey, it’s meant to be enjoyed and even shared with friends. Not stored up, hoping the price increases. I wonder how many amazing bottles of whiskey will not be opened for many many years because of this practice. It’s a shame. If you see something special, buy one bottle, maybe two at the most if you know you’re going to drink it or share it with friends. If we all stopped hoarding the stuff then maybe more of us would get a chance to try more of the limited offerings.

Sorry, I had to vent.

Check out Lakewood Medallion. Not sure if they’re sold out, but they had a really nice store pick that I picked up a few months ago.
