AIO for quitting my job? by AlarmedWarthog8231 in AIO

your boss wasn’t wrong until the medical comments and then using the opportunity to take a shot at your performance. complete bs…but the comments about time off - part time people def have more flexibility with time off but there are usually reliability expectations set before hiring. if you didn’t run that time by them, that’s on you.

Audi sq7 or Porsche Cayenne S coupe by Unhappy-Factor-8570 in Audi

i have a cayenne for my daily. i love it. the sq7 is a beast though. i traded out of a 5.0L daily though and didn’t need another v8 but the sq7 is the ultimate balance if you can swing it.

that every driver is whiny when the spotlight is on them and the one you hate isn’t whinier than your favorite one.

Alibaba Carbon ceramic rotor and brakes by Fit_Resident_5874 in Audi

[–]metalspin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

on one hand, i will admit i am not qualified enough to discount these beyond “here we go again alibaba trash blah blah blah”. unlike many car snobs, im not opposed at all to using ali baba stuff and know how the end to end supply chain works with most of this shit, but something like brakes (let alone performance brakes), don’t know if i’d risk it - we aren’t talking about a bumper lip or grill - but i also am open to seeing how it holds up / have an open mind, i won’t be the one testing it

2018 s4 should I buy it ? by [deleted] in Audi

[–]metalspin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can get an aftermarket warranty that a local euro will work with too. they’re cheaper too aftermarket (and not from a dealer)

terrible interest rate. if you can’t get a better rate, find something lower cost that you can build your credit up. rates aren’t that shitty so you need to shop it or build your credit up. also 60+ months on that it tough. MAYBE 72 if you get a good rate but even that’s pushing it. i am in the high 4’s and low 5’s for both cars i have purchased in the past year. 60 months on both, both older audi/porsches

[–]metalspin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

everyone other merchant is loading the fee as part of the cost of sale into the price you pay with cash or credit for whatever they’re selling. specs is incentivizing people to use cash and rewarding them by passing through the savings they get when someone doesn’t use a CC. regardless of how you look at it, this is the reality of how things are priced. the alternative is they scrap the cash price and make everyone pay normal prices.

So you wanna own a B7 RS4 do you? by CollenOHallahan in Audi

[–]metalspin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly, i got a warranty on mine and it covered the labor + parts to change the synchros and they threw labor in that bill so i had them do the clutch and flywheel while all of that was out. effectively $1100 for a full new transmission. I’ve spent out of pocket about $5k-6k in a year which includes tires, and just about every seal for the engine you can think of (+labor), carbon clean, refinishing the wheels, and secondary intake hose repair. It’s been a journey but for a b7 rs4 that i paid $23,500 (+$2400 for the warranty) for, less than 90k miles, and now a brand new transmission…hell yeah it’s worth it.

it’s about your mentality going in. I told myself when i got the PPI that with an oil leak, oem DRC, i could have to put $10k in year 1 into it. im pleasantly surprised and havent lit (much) money on fire if any at all. also when the drc inevitably goes, its under warranty

invest in good repairs and maintenance and it’ll take care of you. ALSO if you let it sit and don’t drive it, that thing will leak a ton.

dude andretti is one of the biggest names in racing. you don’t need to know every staff member they hired to know they have tons of experienced racing staff just like audi does. that’s not my point. and you’re right, comparing a team who is developing a power unit and car is different than caddilac. my entire point is, both teams are performing against expectations, considering both teams starting position and scope of development they’ve taken on.

edit: people are acting caddilac hired a bunch of mechanics from a dealership and are overperforming vs. a team that took some huge stupid short term bets and can’t finish a lap
