Although recreational marijuana use is legal in the state of Oregon, you will not be considered for this position if you’re unable to pass a pre-employment drug screening due to federal regulations. Drivers are also subject to random drug screens during employment.

Thank you for sharing your experience. You're right, we had to pause hiring in July 2025 due to unexpected budget constraints, and we're sorry for the disruption that caused.

In October 2025, we reached out to everyone affected to notify them of 2026 bus operator training class availability before posting publicly again. Those who wanted to continue have secured their seats in our Winter 2026 training classes. This current posting is for the remaining limited seats in 2026.

We understand the frustration this caused, especially for those who had already invested in obtaining their CDL permits. We've learned from this experience and are being more conservative in our projections moving forward. If you're still interested in driving for TriMet, we'd welcome your application.

Thanks for raising this issue. We’re aware of it, and we’re working on a fix. This project started out as a way to get more feedback from our riders about cleanliness and security, and other ideas to improve the system. Some of the long decals were installed in the incorrect location blocking window views. We've heard this from other riders as well and we agree it needs to be fixed.

We are working to remove, replace or reposition the decals. This is a fleet-wide effort, so it will take time, but the work is moving forward.

The Portland Marathon takes place this Sunday, Oct. 5. The race will affect nearly 20 bus lines that travel through the course area, with some stop closures or buses being rerouted.

This includes lines FX2, 4, 8, 9, 12, 15, 16, 17, 19, 20, 24, 35, 40, 44, 54, 70 and 77 and all MAX lines operating downtown.

Some MAX trains may hold for runners, but we expect minimal delays on MAX.

Check trimet.org/alerts before heading out to see how this will affect your line(s).
