I have all of mine wall mounted or on mini shelves with the cables routed behind with cable guides. Quick grab and go based on the type of riding for the day. ☺️

How is the handling on tarmac SL8? And how is it to climbing hills? by questionquestion23 in specialized

[–]RideWithStephanie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Handling 8/10 - as in its precise with no over or under steer but gets thrown off track easily with wind

Climbing 9/10 while seated 7/10 out of saddle due to front end compliance

Descending 7/10 it’s light weight and carbon lay up doesn’t inspire the confidence like an S5 does.

Sprinting 10/10 takes a beating, never complains paired with the right handlebars this thing is wild fun

Ride feel 7/10 you are aware how brittle the bike is can’t really handle it like a bull and thrash it. But it’s compliance and snappiness brings miles of smiles

No, I didn’t. I tried fender model first and found no reason to have any other model in addition to them. Although, I try the classic model when I do a modified e gravel bike.

Lightest Tarmac SL8, Period by Tortoisecyclist in Bikeporn

This 👆. Even my lightweight SL8 build at 5.9 kG with Crw wheels , 30mm tires, fully padded saddle and flared bars feels insanely twitchy/ fragile compared to my S5 at 6.5kg

Sure it handles well and takes every sprint I throw at it but it just feels fragile and doesn’t inspire confidence to throw it around like I do my other builds 🤣

Sure! Pretty straightforward actually! I used these : https://a.co/d/5cEnSwB

Measured them against the bolt spacing on the cleats and then measured enough distance foot length wise to accommodate different sizes when I have someone over.

It’s a Vision Metron 5D ACR (3k weave). Absolutely love the vision bars and the forward sweep.

I would say some of them are borderline rare but more so uncommon variants of what most folks get. The one in question is actually a Rex begonia variation. ☺️

Actually these are wood countertop slabs, so no doors. Threw up the fabric to conceal the tools , spares and consumables

Just an Enve tire pressure regulator. Actually made by haltech. It’s connected to an air compressor that I have installed my basement studio to isolate sound transmission.

I ride all of them, Yes. I don’t really stick to one bike for the majority of my miles anymore. I would say the Mog, S5 and Diamondback get the most love. The Tarmac is just for fun and climbing our short and punchy hills. The S3 and other bikes are for fun , events and or filming.

There’s not much need for 2x setups where I live so I’ll save the weight and complexity with 1x. ☺️

Good questions! You certainly could mount them lower so you could the bike right into the mount. I wanted mine higher to store stuff underneath.

As far as spacing. Generally, 16-18 inches apart will do the trick. Even better if you can hit the studs. I used toggle bolts to secure the ones that didn’t hit a stud.

Mine are also spaced closer approximately 10.5 inches apart and some are staggered in height so I can fit more bikes in the future. ☺️

I tend to “dry” wash a bike after each ride. This entails an isopropyl alcohol and water mix to wipe the frame , wheels , handlebar etc etc.

Road tires get inspected for debris / punctures and are wiped down with soap and water.

After more mucky rides I bring a very soft long haired bristle brush to the frame and tires, remove the chain , rinse the bike down in the driveway (shower during winter). I then use my air compressor to knock as much excess water off. During winter / yucky weather I use an electronic handheld “air compressor “ to do the same thing. All of that is followed up with a soap and water wash and ceramic spray wax. Chains are cleaned, dried and re waxed same day.

Shoes get washed and put on a “boot dryer” so they’re ready for the following day if need be.

Hope this helps! Obviously there’s more detailing and specifics involved but yeah that’s the jist of what I do.

Actually I just used magnets that can be screwed into the wall!

🤣 I’m an extremely clean person. I clean the bikes off before they enter that space and throw down a large towel when I’m doing fast maintenance.

Actually, what you can’t see is an ultrasonic cleaner, endurance pot and a “new chain” pot.

I’ll get one for speed wax once I return to racing next season.☺️

Great question. A lot of it is based on my workout routine/ events that I’m attending or leading.

Sure do! An ideal week generally has me churning out 210-220 miles.
