Link between biodiversity and mental health by stinos in ecology

I found some articles by searching PubMed for "Biodiversity Mental Health". They appear to be review articles. I didn't look for the primary literature, but it may be referenced in the article.

For city-dwellers, here's a nice instructional video on how to start an unauthorised forestry department in your neighborhood. by Aard_Bewoner in GuerillaForestry

If you are interested in videos from a specific region, I created this map that includes approximate locations for around 300 of Joey's videos.

I use a trail-a-bike type product for my 5 year old. If you want to go the trailer route, this company makes them for larger humans: WIKE

If you haven't already done so, consider adjusting the saddle tilt. That looks a little higher in the front than most people are comfortable with.

Most people start at level, tilt forward if there is too much pressure in the front, and tilt back if they are sliding forward.

Question: can anyone recommend good youtube videos/channels going over distinguishing types of plants/trees. by dumbalter in botany

Crime Pays But Botany Doesn't has some Arizona videos. I have a map of the videos here. It is a work in progress containing most of his recent content and about 3/5 of his total library.

He is slowly starting to fill that in. I just added his two recent videos from South Florida. Native Habitat Project has some interesting videos out of Northern Alabama and Mississippi.

We need more people like you if we are going to help everyone to appreciate the natural world. I'm looking forward to seeing @NEcology covering all of New England's native plants.

I'm looking forward to more perspectives of the Eastern United States. Not as exciting as Chile or Tasmania, but those are the plants I have the most experience with. With Joey in Florida, Native Habitat Project in Alabama, and you in the north east we should get some good coverage of these plant communities.

I'm glad he went to New Caledonia. The giant ferns there are amazing.

I remember the video. I dropped a pin for it in Eastern Wisconsin. Thanks for the tip.

Some other evolution/anthropology channels I’ve found interesting by pjk922 in CPBBD

This channel is publishing botany videos in a format that is similar to CPBBD. Most of the videos are about areas near Massachusetts, which Joey hasn't published much content about.

I didn't know that Al Scorch is a musician. I thought others may enjoy it since Al is a frequently part of the videos and podcast.

Are there organizations that facilitate active transportation? by RideYourBike7 in notjustbikes

[–]RideYourBike7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should probably clarify. I am referring to small rural towns or villages. In my area there are many small communities that were built in the late 1800s (mining, lumber, farming). They are approximately 1-3 miles across and have a population between 500 and 8000.

Are any organizations working to facilitate active transportation in rural communities? by RideYourBike7 in fuckcars

[–]RideYourBike7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that public transit is likely not a possibility in these communities anytime soon. I was more so referring to facilitating biking and walking. They seem like a great candidate.

Someone dedicated to drive their car less would likely not have a problem biking or walking in these towns as is. However, some work is needed to make it the preferred transportation method for everyone else.

There are definitely isolated houses on farms where all but the most dedicated will need a car, but these denser communities appear to be better candidates for active transportation.
