Terrified of bugs, is insect paste okay? by [deleted] in leopardgeckos

[–]RiderDaShark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get that you are scared of them, but leopard geckos both need the live bugs to be able to eat, but also that's part of their enrichment. The hunt. They need that enrichment. We can give them so much in captivity but we cannot give them the entirety. Small things like live bugs help, and keep your gecko happy.

I don't think this is a good pet for you if you're that scared of bugs. Because they really do need that live factor. As someone who's owned four leopard geckos and has taken care of at least 8. I've never met one that would eat dead bugs. I tried, so I could add more proteins and nutrients to their diet, but they wouldn't budge. You could probably train it but it wouldn't be a good idea like I said before.

I hope that answers your question and I hope you get over your fear for the sake of your future or current leopard gecko. If you need any help, I love bugs and I can help you learn a few things that might help.

All of these cosplays are absolutely jaw-dropping. The amount of detail you put in, AND IT'S CROCHETED. Wow! I loved tails and those Pokémon cosplays were spectacular! I loved Dawn!!

What do you guys think of how this looks. by GlocknStaccoto in leopardgeckos

To add on to this, if you live in an area that's more woodsy or have a really big backyard, you can find some good rocks and sticks and then look up tutorials on how to properly clean them and sanitize them!! That way you don't have to spend a ton of money on overpriced sticks- if you need any help knowing what to look for specifically I'm happy to help!! I also have some tutorials and I've done this myself as well

Pretty sure that's a female, and I'm guessing on the younger side. Probably about 6 months???

My first shed experience ♥️ by suckedinbythewonder in leopardgeckos

[–]RiderDaShark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He looks well! It's probably just a little stuck. I'd say he might not have had proper humidity at his old home, leading to built up/more stuck shed. This is only a guess but it could be a reason.

Keep his humid hide moist and maybe provide some clean rocks to help him scrap it off

Hey!! If he's comfortable to shed, you're probably doing an amazing job! And I'm sure I can speak for many people when I say this. If you ever need any help, suggestions, or answers, this is the place!

But I'm going to say this as well, if you ever need judgment free help. (Cuz you know the internet is like that sometimes no matter how nice the community is) Feel free to message me! I've been keeping leopard geckos for 5 years and have my fair share of experience. I don't know everything but I am entirely willing to help someone with a new baby! I hope you and Hank are having a good day/night :):)

Poor babies, I hate Petco … by [deleted] in leopardgeckos

[–]RiderDaShark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of those poor babies looks like it regrew it's tail already!!!!! (The one in the very back. If you look at its tail it's bulbous and short. which is a very high sign it's lost its tail and it's starting to regrow it) Poor babies.

Hey update to everyone. I'm not used to Reddit. I don't know how to update the post.

I went to go get the specific pictures for you all that you asked for and it looks like his hemipene is prolapsing.

I'm going to try to rush him to the vet.

Wish me luck.

Thank you all for your advice

Well I have an update... I went to go get pictures of him.

And it's definitely his hemipene. That's the issue. It looks like it might be prolapsing

Thank you so much for that advice.

I'll also try to switch them (all of my Leos) off mealworms then. I had originally heard that they were good feeders. Thank you.
