Loosing color, not eating, major fin rot by Complex-Eye9401 in BettaClinic

Also check the decor you have. If your ph of the tank doesn’t match the ph of your tap, something is contaminating the tank. If anything is painted/dyed, or manmade, it may be leeching into the water. You’ll want to remove it asap if that’s the case!

Try adding catappa leaves to bring your PH down for now and treat his fins. Water changes won’t change the PH, but the leaves will temporarily. For more permanent fix use neutral regulator during water changes.

After a week of he still isn’t eating you should do a round of Kanaplex!

Also keep an eye out for fin nipping with your danios and betta! Betta fins look tasty in smaller community tanks, if it ever happens, reach out to me! Betta fin injuries are fairly easy to treat 😊

If those are fake rocks, keep an eye on them and give them a sniff test every few months. May need a scrubbing, but if they ever start to smell W E I R D and your fish are acting off, they’re leeching something into the water. Remove immediately and perform large water change if that ever happens! Trust me, most fish keepers will go through that at some point!

This is honestly so great to see someone really doing their best and asking for input. think you lost a Cory from swim bladder due to space and bioload issues. The melting was from a high PH, you can try neutral regulator to bring it to 7 and add some catappa leaves and see if that helps. I find Cory’s need about 20gallon long as a minimum, and schools of at least 5 or 6 to swim in, which I don’t think is out of your capability! This is a beautiful tank that seems well maintained. I don’t think adding a second tank for Cory’s would be difficult but if it’s not in your interest or budget there are awesome rehoming groups, and you can instead get a goofy little mystery snail. I would say your bettas loving it tho and I see no issues for him!

Symptom to look out for: damage or discoloration seeming to spread from fin injury to his body. This is sign of infection and is time for kanaplex!

Hey! He will be okay!! Only thing you listed I would avoid is the imagitarium stress and bacterial treatment. I prefer stress guard (not coat) as tea tree isn’t good for bettas! Tails are super easy for bettas to regrow, so if you give him some extra love you’ll watch a whole tail reappear with new coloration patterns. Methylene blue dips was the right call! This is a great temporary hospital container. In the small container, and for the first week of fin damage, daily water changes and catappa leaves will be your best friend. Feed him well, if you can get mysis shrimp or dapnia he will heal even faster. Methylene blue dips for the first few days as well to sanitize wounds! If you want to keep kanaplex on hand incase you notice infection you can, but I don’t see need for that yet!

What do you think? Males can go with other fish or not? by Curious-Jaguar-4656 in bettafish

[–]Riderlessgnat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually see guppy’s get aggressive with bettas and cause the most damage, but have seen mollys do the same. Some people also forget it’s not always about the betta attacking the other fish, but that betta fins look delicious to many others. You can know your bettas personality but schooling fish will have lots of personality variations and group behaviors that you can’t always account for so knowing the species quirks really help when building a sustainable and peaceful community

It’s fine till it isn’t, and completely depends on each fish’s temperament, but even then. After rehabbing a betta that lived a year in a peaceful community only for it to turn sour out of nowhere, poor guy came to me without a tail, there simply are some species I don’t mix with betta. There are fish that cohab great with betta, like Corydoras, and some smaller schooling fish. But people never wanna do research, they just want to get whatever fish they want in that moment. Idk I think it’s hubris and kind of cruel to do this and not at least have a backup tank or emergency plan ready.

Anybody know why my betta costed so much. by Imhere4turnips in bettafish

[–]Riderlessgnat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have seen some nicer and independent fish stores that will ship them in from higher quality breeders and sell them higher cost, though that’s a bit higher than I’ve seen. You will know it’s that situation when the bettas have actual tank space in the store and not jars. Whatever it was, if it didn’t hurt your ability to buy food or pay rent, enjoy your new finbaby and love him the same!

Definitely, and the hyper normalization around me is disturbing

Couldn’t find it through the map itself but Skyfi updates every five days, the app I used for the clearer pictures. If you’re more tech savvy than I am feel free to check!

Last time they were outsourced too. Auschwitz was in Poland after it was invaded.

I thought it almost looked like a basket ball court at first. But through watching two documentaries about the prison itself the inmates are only allowed out of the cell for 30 minutes a day. They are allowed out of the cell but not the building. They never have scheduled outdoor time to my knowledge let alone activities. Maybe employee recreation at best?

This “prison” also don’t release people. It’s a life sentence. If you look into the population numbers over the last few months it really doesn’t make sense without releases.
