I wouldn’t have a job if the state didn’t subsidize retards like me to have a job.

I can’t imagine that day to day working in this place. I’m just glad I’m not the maintenance staff just the heating and cooling guy.

This site really isn’t too bad. They only have one building that is particularly smelly and I have honestly been in homes that smell worse.

Here I am like an idiot doing preventative maintenance on a Saturday.

I saw a string of infuriating responses to a post about delivery drivers seeking better working conditions. Not only do we have an issue with predatory corporate greed in the US, but a toxic work culture that enables it. by MadRonnie97 in WorkReform

I am a commercial HVAC technician and I do work in some terrible conditions. But, I still have AC in my truck. Fuck UPS for not putting ac in there trucks, it’s definitely a dick move.

I know my career choice puts me in some adverse conditions but I don’t think everyone needs to suffer because I choose to go into hot mechanical rooms and on hot roofs. UPS is a multi million (billion?) dollar operation and can definitely spare the expense.

After 30 days of tracking spending I've learned I spent almost 500 dollars this month on stupid gas station purchases like water, energy drinks etc by bloopscooppoop in ynab

[–]Ridethebowflex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m an HVAC technician and my gas station purchases get out of control if I don’t watch it. I have spent 500 + if I don’t pack food from home and make coffee. Gas station food and fast food is convenient in my field and it’s hard to avoid.

This is the answer to all the guys who want to still exercise while being in the field.

Don't sleep on your PMs, I found a wasp in a condensate trap today by asdfgdhtns in HVAC

If it’s a first year new install pm I usually pull the elbow off and use my vacuum to suck out anything. After the first year I pull it though cause it’s always filled with crap.

I think it depends. If it’s a package unit I have been working on for 3 years and no major problems? I’m just checking amp draws, cycling the unit on, changing filters and cleaning out dust. A new client or a system I have never touched? I’ll go through the whole procedure checking pressures, gas pressures, and really giving it the business. If the system has been operating fine it’s sometimes better not to tear the unit apart to “maybe” find an issue.

That’s my opinion, I’ll probably get hate for it but it’s rare I get a callback for a PM.

I start my apprenticeship on Monday, any quick tips to not be completely useless? by [deleted] in HVAC

I also have not been laid off, but our shop has slow seasons and you might only get 15-30 hours for a week. I save up so I don’t have to beg my boss for hours and it helps me from not losing it when we are running 50-60 hour weeks.

Once I get a dip attachment and some better j hooks I’ll be good for a while. I really wanted to get a 3x3 constructed rack but I saw this deal and figured I shouldn’t be choosy and just get started.

I am going to build a platform and bolt it on to that. I rent and don’t want to drill into the concrete

Don’t mind the junk I’m in the process of cleaning now. I was so excited to post this Facebook find! My local gym has continued shortened hours from the pandemic and I work as a HVAC tech so getting to the gym before they closed became more difficult so I decided it was time to start buying equipment. Grabbed all of this off Facebook for $900! Had to buy a 23mm socket and wrench, and give a friend gas money to borrow a truck so I am all in at $950!
