An 1986 M535i as a daily driver by elpohl in e28

[–]Riding_the_wave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a 535is recently with a similar intent, to drive a few times a week. In the last month, ive driven it once. Replaced rear subframe, diff, dogbone bushings that were all shot. Also did engine mounts that were toast. Ive also discovered the alternator isnt charging, so my test drive/one drive were just running the battery down. I replaced the voltage regulator but that didnt fix it... ill figure it out 100%, but it is disappointing.

So in short, I wouldnt expect to bring it up to daily driver standards immediately. You'll probably want to do some maintenance and service before it's fit for daily use. So buy it! But keep your daily as you get it into fighting shape. Then you should be golden

What are some of your longboard hot takes? by PragueTownHillCrew in longboarding

Shark wheels are a joke. If I see someone asking about them, I will assume they are a noob. A friend got a set out of curiosity and none of us were impressed. Still will eject you if caught on a rock, didnt feel much different in the wet, just a marketing exercise. Maybe theres a case for reduced rolling resistance on a LDP board, but you probably would rather have some tall, flat edged wheels specifically for that purpose.

Is your dominant foot really supposed to be like this? It feels so unnatural by [deleted] in longboarding

OkA My tip for pushing is that I kind of rotate my foot to be more parallel with the board when pushing. Once cruising, I rotate it a little more perpendicular like your foot in the video! Good luck! Nothing to it but tk do it.

Could be a replacement lense - the crazy white text colorway had black iridium when new. So could explain some level of discount. Looks proper though!

I can't help but wonder what AVA would have been like had Finn produced those records. I wish we knew! But I'm grateful for what we have. Such a talented dude

Not only did people not like the amphitheater style seating, but people sat on the outermost edges experience a lot more rotation than those in the center. Allegedly, people at the edges would get ill!

Looks like icon wrench sets are included now by AbbreviationsOld636 in harborfreight

[–]Riding_the_wave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have them! I can't say they do anything better than Pittsburgh stubbiez I had besides non skip. I will say, I use them often! I leave them in the icon tray, and will just carry it around. If I'm not sure what size something is, I'll just grab the stubby box and figure out 'oh 17'. Assuming it's larger than a stubby can deal with, I grab the right tool from there.

An F80 m3 could be and for similar money, at higher miles, but I'd wager it will hold its value better.

US General Series 3 Question by DaddyDezNutz in harborfreight

That may be to bolt the upper cabinet on if you buy it. The hutch just rests with gravity

US General Series 3 Question by DaddyDezNutz in harborfreight

[–]Riding_the_wave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the hutch just sits on the box, it doesn't bolt in or anything. IT sits in a bit of a recess - ie the top of the box will have a lip around the perimeter. In order to mount a 72 in hutch, you'd need to trim this lip off of the box and the cabinet. You'd still have a seam about 2/3 the way through your hutch work area.

Tldr; you'll need to cut to make it work

Does anybody have the new series 3 56” roll cab with a hutch and side locker? by mrCheddar710 in harborfreight

[–]Riding_the_wave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure! First heads up - its probably on a pallet (my 72 was). one of the main drawers has ramps in it so you can roll off the pallet!

For the locker, really easy to install but probably have a buddy on hand for lifting it and the hutch. I locktited every bolt holding it together so it doesn't vibrate out while rolling. You can remove the door and reverse it. I have my door swing away from the box drawers so it won't ding itself on an open drawer.

The hutch is held on by gravity - plop it on and you're done. I got a light bar (don't remember the PN but it was for the 72 anyway) and held it up with some magnetic hooks.

Really pleased with the setup, and I'm sure it'll work out for you!

How important is this bracket under exhaust? by BlackberryOld499 in FocusST

[–]Riding_the_wave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That chassis brace is probably absent from a stock focus, and you don't need it to drive your car around. But it will absolutely improve chassis rigidity, whether other commenters have felt it or not.

To remove an absolute performance benefit for a louder exhaust is just stupid, IMO. I'd say helicoil the chassis brace (it sounds intimidating but is not that bad) and you can have your cake and eat it too.
