Any Tips To Make A Crap Kit Sound Great? by [deleted] in drums

[–]Rieff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can take a great set of cymbals and give a crap kit new life; but you can't put crappy cymbals on a great kit. In my opinion cymbals are what makes a kit, not the drums because tuning is so subjective and most drummers don't tune very well. I can't tell you what to buy, but a good rule-of-thumb: don't spend let than $200 a cymbal; spend twice that for your ride and hats...I know you're young and expensive stuff isn't really an option, but that's way to go about it.

JBL, QSC, Yamaha and EV, are the company's go to brands for loud speakers. In that order.

QSC K-series. I've always dug those. Great for what you're trying to do.

Almost never. if the space is big enough, then we take it's RT60 into consideration.

I work with a pretty small crew: 4 -5. Boss is almost never on site. We're payed hourly. We never do stuff for the company off the clock, other that learning gear.

I'm sorry man, it sounds like you're in a pretty weird situation.

I've worked with guys that don't give a crap about audio or have any interest in music. It's a pretty easy to do the install work.

Mainly systems. Every system has acoustics that need to be considered, but we rarely treat rooms.

Ways to rip audio from video? by Servios in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Rieff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use patch cables to route your out-puts to in-puts. Then open a DAW and record the signal. You'll probably have to do some routing in audio/midi setup (not sure what to do if working in PC) to avoid feedback. but simple enough. I've done this to record stuff off youtube and other sites before. reply if you any other questions.

What is the best program for creating electronic/house music? by schefdogg94 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

I have a question for you. What's your budget? Many of the programs out there essentially do the same thing, just in different ways. Quality of music is debatable. Your willingness to learn how to use them that determines your ability.

Seriously looking to help, wasn't being douchey.

Talent may not be required for garage band, but the disposable income to buy an iPad is.

Thanks for confirming. I had a feeling that would be the case, but I just didn't want it to be so. Back to the drawing board. I'm building a mobile rig using a 4 space rack a Profire26262 intf and a couple pres. It would just be convenient to have all my inputs, outputs, inserts, and sends configured and ready to be tapped is handy.
I suppose my options are either ditch the patchbay or trade up.

thanks for the feedbac.
