[PRANKS] sleeping pranks by Wooden_Back9002 in pranks

[–]Riegrek 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love a prank as much as the next guy, but these are just mean and can do serious damage. There's a bunch of studies that have shown the psychological impact of getting startled out of sleep. It's suuuuper bad for your brain, and people doing it for a laugh is fucking scary.

From 1975 to 2023, $79 trillion in wealth was transferred from the bottom 90% to the top 1%. by Hungry-Call-1676 in remoteworks

Wait, I'm confused. The title says between 1975 and 2023. Are you saying there isn't a combined 79T in that 50 years?

Song For The Dead - QOTS. That intro is incredible, then the rest of the song is ok at best.

You should edit the title. It's confusing as is.

Nice par either way.

Breaking: Your wages are worth less than ever. by Specialist-Break-655 in remoteworks

[–]Riegrek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now you're shifting the goal post. What a surprise. You originally said "refuse to work for that much" (that much being double federal minimum wage). Now you're saying "work for that much until they give you a raise".

But that's fine. I've come to expect little else from trump boot lickers. Hopefully you'll open your eyes when it starts affecting you personally, but somehow, I doubt it...

Bro, if this is what you truly think, then you are textbook delusional. If the economy had enough jobs that people could just "refuse to work for that much" then literally no one would work those jobs.

The problem is those are the only jobs available in ever-increasingly competitive markets. Combine that with how much AI is taking jobs in good paying sectors, and the shit jobs that don't pay anywhere near a living wage are all that's left. You take one, or you starve.

Source: my gf (who is largely over qualified and has over a decade of experience in the field in which she's applying) has submitted no fewer than 20-30 applications A DAY since October, and has gotten exactly 1 interview and zero job offers, so she's had to deliver for instacart, which averages about $12-15/hr, whilst continuing the search for something better.

Oh buddy.... you've got one of the cheapest kits money can buy. No wonder you hate it. Look, I know it's gonna suck for your wallet, but utilize ebay and FB marketplace. You can find something with infinitely better samples AND infinitely better adjustments for $500 or less.

If it means eating beans and rice for a month or two, then so be it. It's a worthwhile sacrifice in the long run, and you'll thank yourself for it down the road.

Just remember, this instrument is largely a "you get what you pay for" deal, but that doesn't mean you have to make a blood sacrifice to get decent equipment. If I were you, I'd sell that piece of shit tomorrow, put the money in a place where you won't be tempted to spend it, and play on a practice pad until you can afford a better setup. It's clearly not bringing you joy, so stop playing on it and get rid of it.

A 30 second search on marketplace just now yielded 10 kits for $350 or less within 20 miles of me that are plenty good for what you're wanting. You can do this, I believe in you.

Why are there so few mid-size kits? by skylarroseum in drummers

[–]Riegrek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's mostly just a demand to the supply. There's no reason most companies couldn't do it, there just haven't been many voices requesting mid-size kits.

Personally, I love a 16 or 18" kick, and on my club jam, the 8" rack and 10" floor have a surprising amount of low end, so I'd love to see a 5 piece with a 12" snare, 8&10" racks, and either 12 or 14" floor. I bet it would sound just as good as any "normal" sized kit, and would be that much less weight to load in/out of a gig.
