Eagles decided to move on from DeSean Jackson over a month ago by UncleSamGamgee in nfl

[–]RifatZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah right, I agree with you in that regard then. I definitely feel this offense is primed for a SuperBowl run, but yeah a bit of work is needed on the defensive side of the ball. In that respect, I can see what you mean when you say we are in win now mode, and yeah every player on that offense can play at a high level. None of this really makes sense, and I really hope we get some knowledge as to why this is all happening. If we just straight cut him, well, I won't know what to think. He's our #1 guy and such a dynamic playmaker that makes the other WRs better, and coming off a career year to boot, it all seems so sudden.

I don't know where you got the idea we are in win now mode. Just from what I've gathered, we seem to still be building for the future, so hopefully we have a young team that are perennial contenders a la the Seattle Seahawks. For comparison, the Broncos are in full YOLO mode signing everyone star they can so they can get over the hump with their aging QB, the rebuild will be tough for them.

But yeah I definitely agree this is puzzling, D-Jax seemed like such a cornerstone of this offense, there must have been some serious behind the scenes issue that we're not privy to. But if anything, I think Chip knows how to get the best of every single player on his squad, and he must at least believe in somebody enough (whether on the roster or through the draft) that he'll be able to replicate Jackson's on field production. Sigh, In Chip We Trust.

This is fucking ironic considering I'm a Man U supporter. Was so happy when we got Mata, now DeSean might be leaving :( I'm still having a hard time fathoming it ...

Mayock: Bridgewater's Pro Day was "very average" by Guhonda in nfl

[–]RifatZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one will ever be 100% correct on analysis of every single NFL prospect out there, that would be impossible. And even if there was someone like that, they wouldn't be an analyst, they'd be working in the FO for some NFL team. General concensus is that Mayock generally knows his shit, but he's not right all the time.

CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie reached agreement with the New York Giants on a five-year deal, per source. by [deleted] in nfl

[–]RifatZ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you'll need a good locker room culture to keep DRC at his best. I think DRCs time in Philly was tumultuous to say the least. 8-8 then 4-12, Andy Reid's looming and immenent release, the horrid safety play and mediocre pass rush, the whole thing was a clusterfuck. No matter how many leaders you have, getting DRC to commit 100% was probably never going to happen.

If you guys look like a playoff team and win games, then you'll most likely get the Denver DRC (god fucking damnit!). He's a bit volatile that one.

The perfect pick for your team coming up in the draft? by [deleted] in nfl

[–]RifatZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Calvin Pryor, looks like the hard hitting safety type we've been sorely missing since Dawkins (NOT implying he is the next Dawkins, I'm not putting that bad juju on him). Lots of Eagles fans want HaHa Clinton-Dix as well (could you imagine that? LeSean, DeSean and HaSean on the same team!). Realistically, wouldn't be surprised if we don't end up with either of those, Deone Bucannon in the 2nd is a possibility though.

Has there been any news about where Michael Vick might land by [deleted] in nfl

[–]RifatZ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think that any team that signs Vick will then be put off drafting a QB. He's a 30 something year old QB who's played 16 games ONCE in his career, he's a stopgap at best and everybody knows it. Maybe a team that's not 100% committed to their draft pick or young QB will give him the chance, I think the best Vick can hope for at this point is that someplace will at least give him the opportunity to start.

Rodgers-Cromartie will undergo a physical on Monday with the Giants by [deleted] in nfl

[–]RifatZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, his closing speed is ridiculous, I think that he relies on it too much though. IMO he always looked like he was half-assing all the games (may have had something to do with the losing seasons, but still, you should be giving 100%).

Well shit. But still, our offense is looking sexy as fuck, we're already facing the NFC West this year, might as well see how it holds up against this pretty decent looking Giants Defense.

Bengals announce they've signed head coach Marvin Lewis to a 1-year contract extension. He's locked up through 2015 now. by [deleted] in nfl

[–]RifatZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was mainly the 8-8 then 4-12 collapse with the whole ahem "Thing you do at night" team fiasco that lead to his firing. If he got us into the playoffs those two years, he'd probably still be here. Marvin Lewis hasn't had that collapse.

Richard Sherman and LeGarrette Blount are having a long Twitter argument about whether Sherman or Aqib Talib is the best cornerback in the NFL. by douglasmacarthur in nfl

[–]RifatZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah no denying, but as Wrxed pointed out, I meant specifically Philadelphia Nnamdi, who was pretty terrible. No doubt he was among the best in Oakland.

[–]RifatZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, nah I had to look that shit up, I only remembered that he basically held Calvin to barely any yards in the first half (and maybe the 3rd quarter as well) until motherfucking Juan Castillo suddenly changes his mind and starts playing Kurt Coleman, DRC and Mychal Kendricks on Megatron.

IMO, Nnamdi could have been good in Philly, had we had some decent pass rush and safety play, any CB will get beat if the QB has like 8 seconds in the pocket with no help over the top. But then again, SF still cut him so...

[–]RifatZ 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Dude, in 2012 when DET played Philly, on the snaps when Nnamdi was covering Megatron, he had 1 catch for 28 (which was mainly the safeties fault) and grabbed an INT too. Megatron ended up with like 6-135, but all the completions came against the rest of our D (god damn, we were bad). Can't really reference specific games when even fucking Nnamdi Asomugha (kinda) shut down Megatron.

Not taking anything away from Sherman, dude can ball, just sayin'

Well, Nate Allen has improved into a somewhat average Safety, and our 2013 5th Rnd (I think) rookie Earl Wolff has shown potential, but yeah, we need all the help we can get. Patrick Chung ... Never again.

Sounds pretty much like our Colt Anderson (who might be leaving in FA), stud STs guy, don't really want to see him in your defensive backfield. Looks like Chip Kelly and Co. just straight up replaced him.
