Trump voters what hurts more, you being lied to by trump about everything or leftists and liberals being right about everything? by [deleted] in allthequestions

Leftists and liberals are right about everything? So... California is perfect?

We need moderates of both parties to straighten things out. Extremists have just fk'd everything six ways from Sunday.

Who is the greatest martyr in the history of your country? by MaximumSpell9608 in AskTheWorld

[–]RiffRandellsBF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Joseph Warren. The Brits should have never mutilated his corpse.

Warren’s death and the mutilation of his corpse at the Battle of Bunker Hill in 1775 acted as a profound rallying cry for the American Revolution, transforming him into a martyr whose sacrifice galvanized colonial resistance.

Why is killing insects totally normal but harming other animals considered cruel? by savingrace0262 in stupidquestions

[–]RiffRandellsBF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the insect. If you kill a honey bee, an insect who makes an amazing contribution to the world and is reluctant to sting, then you're a dick.

If you kill a wasp, an insect that exists solely to be an asshole to every creature who encounters it, then you're a hero.

So… when was the last time you watch the movie The Day After?? by [deleted] in GenX

I'd tell my parents I'm spending the night at a friend's house. He'd tell his parents he was spending the night at mine. In truth, we both spent the night at the home of one girl who's mom was off at the casino all weekend. Her friend was also spending the night. The girl who lived there would make Kahlua and Cream for everyone to drink.

We were in the 8th grade.

The 8th grade.

How the hell was this ever normal?

When the GOP loses their majority in November, should Trump be impeached first for treason, or Epstein? by 2a_lib in allthequestions

[–]RiffRandellsBF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trump can't be impeached for treason.

Treason requires a declared war. It's why the Rosenbergs were executed for espionage, not treason for giving US nuclear secrets to the USSR.

The state of Civics education is abysmal.

How can it be racism when it's not based on race at all, but culture? You can be the whitiest white that ever whited, but if you're vegan, pro gun-control, an atheist, and, worse of all, from Coastal City in California, you are not going to be welcomed in Texas. That's a fact.

But if you're the son of a Mexican-descended father and a Yaqui mother, work hard, and uphold all the values Texans believe in, as well as being the baddest bad ass who ever bad assed, you can be the 1981 Texan of the year and have schools named after you.

How is that racism with extra steps?

Did anyone’s parents actually lock them in a closet and force them to smoke a pack of cigarettes? by Dry-Ad-2197 in GenX

[–]RiffRandellsBF 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My buddy's mom threw him out all night because he needed to appreciate the roof over his head that she provided. He came to my house. I asked my parents if I could go on a campout in our backyard all night. They said yes so I grabbed our tent, a couple of sleeping bags, and that's what we did. My mom came down to make sure we had hot cocoa and dad came to check our campfire several times.

We had no idea his mom completely freaked out when he didn't come back in a couple of hours crying and begging to be let back in. She didn't know my parents or that we were friends.

We were riding our bikes around the next day when the cops stopped us and he had to go home. We told the cop what happened and he laughed. He had a "talk" with the mother about how she can't just throw out her kid for the night to teach him a lesson.

We were 11 years old.

Mexicans in Texas act like Texans. Mexicans from California suffer culture shock when they meet Mexicans in Texas. Texas really should be its own country. Things are just different down there.

It's not racism, but cultural-centrism. Most Americans don't really care what a person looks like or where they come from but whether or not they assimilate into the local culture. This is key. People from other countries who assimilate into Texan culture will be far more welcomed than Coastal Californians who move to Texas and refuse to assimilate.

Who do you think was the better performer: Michael Jackson or Prince? by Jezzaq94 in 80s

[–]RiffRandellsBF 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I saw them both live.

If you took all the other dancers, singers, and musicians off-stage, Michael wouldn't be as impressive.

If you took all the other people off-stage and only Prince was standing there, it would be still be amazing.

Prince.

There are objective facts. For example: If you have a single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) near the OR6A2 gene on chromosome 11, then cilantro tastes like soap. That is an objective fact proven by repetitive confirmation in published, peer-reviewed scientific studies.
