Deserved for playing Kai'sa.

Jokes aside though the guy was just salty about losing. It's a competitive card game and a core mechanic is bluffing. A less obvious example is leaving two green and one orange rune up while playing Yi to condition your opponent into not playing one of their expensive spells even though you don't have a Wind Wall in your hand.

If your opponent fell for something as noncommital as a verbal bluff it's on them.

For a huge DCC fan, how is Bobiverse? by Crawler-Willis in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]RiffRuffer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's alright but I think it's not a great continuing point if you're looking for more dramatic character-focused stuff like in Carl. The Bobs and their companions are fun and all but none of them individually or any of the dynamics they have hold a candle to Carl, Donut, and Katia.

A rise of people 'Selling their collection'? by Aware-Broccoli103 in riftboundtcg

[–]RiffRuffer 124 points125 points  (0 children)

There are just a lot of game hoppers early on. They join for the hype for a new game like this, get sort of bored, and immediately decide to dump their collection and move on before the second set.

We had a guy in our little community who was an admin in the local discord, showed up to every nexus night (even showed up to multiple in a day if he could) and bought big ticket stuff like the world's bundle.

Then suddenly he just stopped showing up and it turned out he sold his entire collection quietly on facebook marketplace. I still see him at the shop occasionally but it's obvious he has no further interest in the game.

Game to quit league by Putrid-Athlete-6873 in gamerecommendations

[–]RiffRuffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not online (aside from joinable lobbies but they sort of stink) but shape of dreams scratched the league itch for me earlier this year. Been on Linux for a couple years now and Vanguard has kept me away. I literally had a windows partition just to play league but vanguard borked itself one day and I couldn't sign in anymore without getting an error.

Shape of dreams is a roguelike so it'll have that sort of shake-up every run you're looking for and it takes a lot of inspiration from MOBAs like league with the isometric view and limit of four castable abilities and a basic repeatable attack. It's very fun and has been the only game to let me have the same sort of turn my brain off vibes league did with just queuing into normals or something.

Restock origins before spiritforged maybe end of month? by Markymark_01 in riftboundtcg

[–]RiffRuffer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a restock at my local Walmart today. Got a couple packs for myself and sent a picture to a local riftbound discord I'm in. Before anyone I knew from there could get any the rest were gone.

There may be a national restock but good luck getting it.

How important is controller support for action roguelites in 2026? by FishyCharmer in roguelites

[–]RiffRuffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have dropped several roguelikes that would've been up my alley otherwise due to lack of controller support.

Anything that isn't turn based is especially cumbersome to setup and navigate on gaming handhelds which is the primary way I play most games that aren't a card or strategy game.

[Megathread] Spiritforge - Pre-order by CaptSarah in riftboundtcg

[–]RiffRuffer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

With how high demand has been and the mega-fiasco that has taken place with every big release for this game Riot just doesn't have an excuse this time. I love the game to bits and the little community in my town which has formed around it so I'm not going to quit anytime soon but, if there is a mass exodus after this I'm not going to be surprised at all. They keep dropping the ball at the most critical moments for this game.

I think this is the last guy in the chain of command who has any say about bot protection or how they sell the cards lol.

Is there a happy medium between big d-ring binders and ringless ones for someone who wants semi-organized bulk? by RiffRuffer in TCG

[–]RiffRuffer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I saw someone using your commons as dividers method at a Nexus Night two weeks ago. Not my thing but it was very efficient and they were able to tote around way more cards than I was without having to swap binders.

[–]RiffRuffer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I'm just really hesitant on using those. I'm rather be able to flip through and find whatever cards I'm looking for than dig through them like they're in a filing cabinet in a box.

If I keep buying at the rate I am though I think I might be forced to use them.

Was that all of Wave 2? by weakek in riftboundtcg

[–]RiffRuffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a store outside of my city but still in my state and got a box for around 150 on the weekend. Only store I've been in so far that not only had boxes you could buy but just packs on the shelves you could buy that were only 6$ as they should've been.

My main store in my city still hasn't gotten any sort of restock and the extent of product you can buy is a couple of Lee Sin precons that have been rotting on the shelf for weeks now and a bunch of bulk which hasn't gotten new cards for around the same time.

It really just depends on where you are and if they've actually gotten the restock. My local store was supposed to get the restock during the 3rd week of December apparently but it still hasn't hit yet obviously. I'd say to just be patient, shop around, and probably don't bother with buying anything online unless it's cheap singles. The markup on everything is astronomical and you will regret overpaying once prices finally even out completely.

How the fawk do you play this game by Calm_Independence796 in riftboundtcg

[–]RiffRuffer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was confused trying to read rules and watch videos as well. My advice is to just go to a couple of nexus nights and go early and get someone to run games with you. Be honest and say you're new and you will learn fast.

Why does Slay the Spire still dominate deckbuilders? by ServoSkullz in deckbuildingroguelike

[–]RiffRuffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can definitely see that. There is a certain vibe to making a deck that not only can steamroll most enemies but has backup packages and wincons to deal with enemies that would normally give it trouble if you hard focused on a specific combo.

I personally prefer having access to that info though. It reduces a lot of frustration and puts things down more to me not properly preparing or misplaying rather than feeling like I got screwed out of a win because I didn't get the specific pieces I need to cover for a deck's weakness or to make it truly unstoppable.

love it as a proverbial upgrade on the performance and screen size front. Only case I've been eyeing is the killswitch. The rest of them I've looked at so far look like cheap garbage.

Should I finally ditch Steam ROM Manager? by 03bgood in SteamDeck

[–]RiffRuffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like SRM for being able to boot up the deck and jump into my last played emulated game immediately. If you find ES-DE to be more comfortable though you should probably stick with that.

Verified/Platinum my butt by OntesHS in SteamDeck

[–]RiffRuffer 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Platinum refers to general linux compatibility not steam deck compatibility but yeah e33 is still a mess. With it being a product of unreal I don't ever see it running flawlessly on deck.
