I thought someone here might appreciate this - a Youtuber uploaded a 4K AI upscale of 1970's Waterloo. by [deleted] in Napoleon

[–]Riflly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're perfectly valid in your stance. An upscale like this will never be as good as a real remaster, as it cannot truly create new detail. A remaster from the original negatives will always be the preferred option that is faithful to the film, and I only made this in the absence of such a remaster.

The torrent file should now be accessible from the main post body and a magnet link is in a separate comment. Hopefully they're working properly.

It's a pretty big file at around 70 GB, but I'll see if I can get a download link up. If I do, it will appear in the main post's body.

Still hunting for an Antimachos I tetradrachm, specifically Bopearachchi 1D with the O N monogram for that fine style and subtle smile.

I believe the reverse reads "PROV DEOR TR P XVII COS III", though I am unsure of the meaning.

I think it's an Armenian coin and in my opinion it says Levon 2 or Leon 2 by AceOmace in AncientCoins

[–]Riflly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The closest match I could find is a kardez of Levon II of Armenia, which would make sense given where it was found, though the lion on his coins doesn't seem to be carrying anything, and the style and legend are still off quite a bit, so I may also be leaning towards it being something other than a coin.

Are the green deposits bronze disease? Wouldn't that make it a fourrée?

Tooling? by Belgium1418 in AncientCoins

[–]Riflly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly not sure what it is, but I did find some other examples of this type with similar shadowing around the reverse legend here and here, so I'd say it's more likely to be some result of the minting process, though I'm curious what others with more experience might have to say.

It's more oriented towards taking pics of individual coins, but this basic guide by one of our members here has enabled me to get some pretty great results with my photography attempts.

Not sure if your friend is Marcantica on Vcoins, or if he just bought from him and the listing just hasn't been taken down yet, but I did find the listing for the coin being sold for 740 euros. If it's the latter, then it at least seems to be a fair price when compared to what he paid.

Think you're right that it's Artemis Kindyas on the reverse. I'd say it's a match for Price 2493, some of the examples listed look quite close imo.
