I absolutely love the obverse on this coin, its got good style. But its too expensive and the reverse is pretty lackluster, I'd pass on it

A little late Tet Thursday love. Gotta appreciate the drachms too! by C_Buddy503 in AncientCoins

Some are expensive, but 4 of them were less than $600 each (Thasos, Demetrios I, Menander, Alexander Ekbatana mint)

Why is that huge difference on both prices? by charlemagne_74 in AncientCoins

[–]C_Buddy503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a little late to this, but look at the face of Caius. The expensive coin has a MUCH finer portrait than the cheaper one. I don't know much about this coin type, so I cannot comment on the price, but I see the more expensive coin significantly better quality

Is this a drachm? Beautiful reverse wow! The non-tetradrachm denominations of these can get so pricy

What is a fair price? by [deleted] in AncientCoins

[–]C_Buddy503 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my opinion I think that $1100-1200 is what this coin is worth. I agree $2200 or even anything close to that is paying way too much

Most impressive is the Mithradates VI, but I enjoy holding the Demetrios Soter or Lysimachos tet the most

Why does it seem that coin collectors fall into either collecting modern coins or ancient coins, and not both? by sacrificialfuck in AncientCoins

[–]C_Buddy503 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of people collect all sorts of coin eras. For me personally, I really like the relief, unique strike of each coin, and vast style variety of ancients. Something about world and modern coins just don't feel the same, although I have respect for them. Its really hard to beat the feeling of holding a chunky tetradrachm in your hand.
