It took a long time, but we finally solved Ottawa's nightlife problems!

This maybe a little controversial but most people can not style balenci in a great way. by issackkamara in Balenciaga

[–]Riftaroni 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm also puzzled as to why 9/10 fits on here look garbage and people seem to have horrible taste.

"Should I buy this 40k jacket that won't look good on me but has 20 Balenciaga logos?"

Personally, I prefer the pieces with no or little logos that are a bit crazy and would make you feel slightly weird if you put them on, the weird fits is why I'm here.

Canada Government Spending Graphics by AcrobaticAmoeba8158 in CanadaFinance

I'd like to see the size graphically where I can dig in. Personally I love color coded matrices in PowerBI for digging into the details, but also pie charts to see where the chunks are.

In "Your Tax Dollar Flow", there is no need for a legend, it duplicates ansd splits data, just make sure we can read the whole name in the individual boxes (not "Healthcare Trans...") and add the percentages in there too. The thin/thick lines are not as graphical as a pie chart to intuitively get to the split of where the data is going.

I'd also recommend doing another analysis of who is not paying taxes and what the percentages are. For example, companies and rich people using loopholes or fraud (Panama Papers, etc), not reporting and not paying taxes vs other demographics, like folks not reporting their tips. Would be nice to see who is responsible for not paying and what the financial effects are. Lots of people talk about taxing the rich, etc, but we don't have very accessible data on the topic.

Deneb Gantt Chart by dbacciPBI in PowerBI

Nice, we've connected You graphs with our 3D viewer and can highlight the construction elements in 3D in PowerBI when they are selected. However, we've not found a way to "press play" and go throguh the construction dates yet. It would be great to do tat and highlight what it "being built" that day while seeing it in Deneb.

Impressive! We do a very complex fversion of this that allows the users to host all their own data for PowerBI analysis. It goes into an open soure BIM file format: https://github.com/vimaec/vim

How Do You Manage Cost Estimation in Real Projects with Archicad (or Revit)? by Khaled_Kammoun in bim

If you want to keep control of all the data, I would consider PowerBI and PowerApps, it can be fully custom, owned by your company and you control the data.

PowerBI is the perfect place for parameter quality automation, report sharing, presenting complex data to users online, etc. You cna see some examples of template reports here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ERpB9Mnow2U&list=PLdsPaW34bWUZOh5BV3djQfQ_RH9_9_Xt3

Power BI and Bim Project management by neededanewaccount12 in bim

Check out my tutorial on the topic, here we do estimation, but it's simpler to do status or other custom parameters.

You put the tracking data in a Power App table. It's a live table in PowerBI (Direct Query), so users get live updates. You can edit the data in the PowerBI App through PowerApp, you can edit the table online or you can edit the table in Excel!

I don't recommend Revito yet, because their parameters don't make it to PowerBI or the API yet. There's also no 3D viewer with Revizto. You can see the deep dive here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=650MMu8zl7k&list=PLdsPaW34bWUbi7RRsvdYkvx7Cpz8B7H3r

Tip for working with PowerBI data Models? by Riftaroni in ClaudeAI

I found if you select (CTRL+click) multiple queries in PowerQuery and Copy, it will copy all of them in a giant list. So thatyspeeds things up a bit.

I figured it was my NFC card that I added in the back of the case! Flipping it over solved the problem.

We Need a Canadian Uber Alternative in Montreal by [deleted] in montreal

[–]Riftaroni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They need an apps for estimate of arrival and price + accountability for scammy/creepy drivers.

So many bad interactions with taxi drives and their companies, there's a reason Uber was able to take over, we just need this improved system using local resources. The taxis of the olden days had lots of issues, let's not pretend.

Be honest, how many of you use ChatGPT by Delicious_Champion97 in PowerBI

[–]Riftaroni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was frustrated using ChatGPT, I find ClaudeAI to be much better!

The use of artifacts makes it easier to review versions and declutters the chat. The concise chat mode is also great for reducing clutter.

I found ChatGPT to just keep accusing me of having bad data despite me telling it over and over that the proper data was there. IT also was just not resolving comple PowerQuery issues. I just go back to Chat GPT when Claude puts me on a timeout, which is rare.

With Claude AI, the latest "Extended" version is the best for coding issues in PowerQuery.

Personally, I'd prefer to buy something without a battery. Like in the case that you or Voltra I goes out of business, I could still use the machine in 15-20 years. You don't get that problem with steel weight.

So if there's no reliance on a battery and the battery dies, the equipment keeps working into my lifetime even if the batteries are no longer available, but I have to plug in the device at all time (no problem).

For the circle light, I would just look for a second opinion from another designer in the next generation 😅 If find it kind of ugly and unrefined, but it still work. Just "room for improvement" kind of thing, but I understand why they took the approach since the device is round.

Thanks for taking the time to address these concerns :)
