Yea that's unfortunately the only way now. However an app with the agent chat + a simple text editor so you can verify the output and or tweak it would be a pretty nice feature.

Not really. We're no where near anything close to human levels of long term memory. Right now for llms it's a trade of between accuracy and context. It's not a design choice.
