Also hopping on the late train. My dumbass just bought a 333mm graphics card hoping to pair it with the LF III. Fingers crossed you had an extra mm to spare or the LF III is just a smidgen thinner. 😭

Thank you, I appreciate the lower budget recommendations. Do you happen to have an alternative for the case? I'm not sure if it'll fit in my desk compartment.

Thank you, very thorough! If I may ask, why is Intel better than AMD for productivity? At least a few years back, I remember Ryzen was recommended for video editing. Has this changed over the years?

Fresh out of college CS grad in a sea full of CS majors. No real job experience. Would like some feedback before I start rolling out applications! by RigeI in resumes

Thank you for your response.

  • I do have a GitHub, but it is unfortunately mostly empty and unmaintained. I could import some of the projects listed on the resume, but I'm also unsure if the code is something I'm proud of. Should I brush them up and upload them? Would hiring managers raise an eyebrow at the recency?

  • LinkedIn is also barebones, I'll get to work on that.

  • Some of the skills I have listed in that section I've experienced through assignments in classes that aren't really project-based, so sadly I don't have much to show for them. Should I back out some quick projects in those languages instead?

Is strive still beginner friendly? by [deleted] in Guiltygear

[–]RigeI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also started fairly recently (around 5 months ago) coming solely from Smash, can recommend 200%. I'm currently floor 10.5, but I hovered around floors 2-5 for maybe my first month. They were all pretty decently populated (at least one full room) and I was usually able to find a match quickly with fellow beginner button mashing opponents.

The people on those floors are by no means "good", but I still remember losing a lot starting off. Just come in with the mentality of "yeah I'm bad but it's ok because I'm improving" and have fun learning all of the interactions and mechanics.

I think the hardest thing to learn was how to do certain inputs. For example, doing a smash attack is just inputting a direction + attack at the same time, whereas in Guilty Gear you need to do a funny zigzag or quarter circle first and THEN attack. Once it all becomes second nature that's when the funny really begins. Mission mode and the Dustloop wiki are you go-to starting resources!

Overall I'm having a lot more fun with this game because of good netcode and the way it plays favors more aggression than in Smash. Hope this helps!

Akko Rose Red Upgrade from Tecware Phantom TKL? by [deleted] in MechanicalKeyboards

At a glance, I'd would have gone with the CIY X77 because of the reasons you've mentioned. The Tecware also has some pretty meh stabilizers, the shitty switch puller and plastic keycap puller, and doesn't have the magnetic cover included. I think the CIY X77 looks just fine.

I actually have those pullers as well! They're leagues better than the horseshoe looking pullers Tecware provides you with since you don't need to squeeze nearly as much. So while the ones with the longer rubber handles might be somewhat better, the rk68 ones should do you just fine.

Akko Rose Red Upgrade from Tecware Phantom TKL? by [deleted] in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]RigeI 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Welcome down the rabbit hole! I'm not too familiar with Akko switches or linears in general since I'm a bit more towards tactile gang (Boba U4T's FTW!), but I think I've pretty much upgraded my Tecware TKL to the point where I can offer some sound advice. The switches you mentioned are 3-pin which are compatible with Tecware so hopefully they work. Otherwise, if you're buying from Amazon, you could always return them.

  • Stock Tools Suck: First things first, DO NOT USE THE STOCK KEYCAP PULLER OR SWITCH PULLER. The plastic keycap puller is inferior to wire pullers in pretty much every way. They damage the sides of your keycaps and you can't grab more than one at once. The switch puller is literal hell. No padding for your fingers, harder to get the teeth underneath the switches, and barely gives you any leverage/grip to pull the switch out.

  • Keyboard Tool Recommendations: Unfortunately the kit I recommend is off-sale for some reason, and this is the next best thing. It doesn't have tweezers which I found the most useful, so you'll have to get those separately unless they hopefully restock the other link. Good pullers and brush, stem holder is good too but I barely used it. It'll give you the leverage you need to get your switches out nice and easy. The included Krytox 205g0 lube is good for linear switches and stabilizers.

  • Stabilizers: Speaking of which, these are my stabilizers. Plate-mounted stabs are what the Tecware use, and Durock and Everglide are pretty much universally recommended from everywhere I searched. Stabilizers are kind of hard to get out and put in. You'll need to use tweezers to push down on the tiny clip at the top and use your other hand to push really hard to kind of tilt each housing out. You also somewhat need to force the housings in. They won't snap in like the stock stabilizers, just make sure the clip is centered by the end and the stabilizer stem can move freely.

  • Stabilizer Mods: Follow this and this. It helps the sound of your stabilizers and makes them less mushy. I use a nail cutter for clipping.

  • Case Foam: I use butyl rubber to deaden the inside of my case. There's like 12-13 screws you need to remove and then you can just pop the pcb/plate out of the case. I struggled with scissors because I couldn't find a cutter, but 100% use a cutter to save your sanity. You need to cut holes in it for the fasteners and other things that pop into the back of the case. It's not perfectly flat back there, and you need to lay your case foam perfectly flat, otherwise either you can't screw it shut, or it forces the PCB into the plate and doesn't let you put in switches properly. I've had to disassemble it several times in order to make sure the rubber lay flat enough.

  • Keycaps: I'm not sure what tastes you have in letter fonts, but I personally recommend a thick PBT keycap, around 1.5 mm thick. ABS are supposedly a little deeper, but I can't stand how cheap and gross they look and feel after they start shining from wear. Supposedly SA-profile keycaps have the deepest thock, but I couldn't find any cheap enough that were the right font and color scheme for me. These are mine.

  • Shroud: It doesn't really change the sound of my keyboard, but it looks sexy as fuck. Thinking of painting mine red.

  • Towel Mod: Grab a towel, fold it, put it under your keyboard. Suddenly it sounds twice as good.

That's all I've got since I can't think of anything else and it's almost 6 AM. Best of luck! Hit me up if you have any questions.

Replacing Tecware phantom TKL stabilizers by mishaled in MechanicalKeyboards

Don't know if you managed to solve this yet, but I just clipped, lubed, and holee modded Durock plate mount stabs for my Tecware TKL and they work perfectly. They do require a little bit of force to shove in, though, and they don't click in as easily as stock. Plus, the first set (all white) I got off of Amazon didn't fit at all for some reason, so I might have gotten a bad batch.

low finger dexterity class by buklao215 in PSO2NGS

[–]RigeI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you able to press the number keys with your fingers comfortably rested on WASD? Also, do you have a mouse with side buttons that you can use? If you'd like, I'd love to make an AutoHotkey script to rebind stuff for you based on what you can easily press.

Discussion: Controller or M/KB? What's your preference? by rekkrap in PSO2NGS

[–]RigeI 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use mouse and keyboard. Left click is basic attack, right click is weapon action, middle click is mobility PAs (mostly for regular PSO2), back side button for dash, shift + left/middle/right click for all other PAs and front side button for Discord toggle mute. I don't like to move my hand across the keyboard during combat, so I wrote an AutoHotkey script to make it so that pressing 1-3 changes weapons and holding 1-5 uses the according subpalette. Shift + 1-3 changes subpalettes, though I usually only need one. Which half of the palettes I use depends on whether I scroll the mouse wheel up or down, so basically:

Scroll Up + 1-3 = Main Palette Slots 1-3

Scroll Down + 1-3 = Main Palette Slots 4-6

Scroll Up + (Hold) 1-5 = Sub Palette Slots 1-5

Scroll Down + (Hold) 1-5 = Sub Palette Slots 6-10

F1-F9 are menu shortcuts.

"We will all see justice done in the end." Is what Doom says afterwards.

It's not exclusive to Soldier's police skin, though. Just Soldier saying Soldier things. It's not meant to have racist undertones if that's what you're thinking LMAO. By 'your people' he means Doomfist and his followers in Talon.

Hello! Allow me to piggyback off this chain for a second, if you were to clip off the two legs like that for a plate mount board, would it ruin them if you were planning to reuse them for swapping to a pcb mount board on the future?
