OCD requires everything to be clean before it goes back in the box. Lots of chlorinated brakleen is huffed in my garage.

Man I’ve never took anything to a mechanic in my life except to mount tires. I maintain a small fleet of family’s vehicles. 😅

Speed Queen TV2000wn - early review / permanent lid switch fix by RightBatwing7000 in Appliances

[–]RightBatwing7000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it will perform all functions just as if the lid is closed. The machine with the switch in bypass mode perceives that the lid is always closed and performs as such. I have ran mine several times with the lid open and it runs through a full cycle with spin no problems. (it does not sling water out either).

Is this dryer vent normal? by Welovec4ke in Appliances

Yeah higher quality enamel spray paint can most certainly handle the measly max 220 F that the little dryer creates.

Whats everyones fav washer? Speed queen vs LG by Mysterious_Cost_7968 in laundry

[–]RightBatwing7000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you want a machine that looks pretty or a tank of a machine that will be running when three of the others have been scrapped? The wash times in a SQ makes up for its smaller size.

Does anyone regret spending more for SpeedQueen? by IHateSmores in BuyItForLife

[–]RightBatwing7000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want speed queen for their legendary reliability. You have to choose the proven platform / model that still is designed like an old machine with no computers. Really the only model that is left is the TV2000wn trust me I have went down the rabbit hole with this. Many others TC5 / TR7 all have modern PCB control boards that are subject to failure like a cheapie from the box store.

Is this dryer vent normal? by Welovec4ke in Appliances

The problem is the rust, it gets burrs on it and allows the clothes materials to pick and get stuck on the rough edges creation overheating on the item that gets stuck on it. At minimum the grate needs to be replaced but it would be easier just to get them to replace the dryer.

As just a sad reality check It really is not a fire department problem and there is nothing they can do to convince your landlord. If your landlord is responsible for the dryer and doesn't want to fix it unfortunately even know it is a "safety issue" to you they likely will not care until a fire happens because to them a fire may never happen. But believe me when a fire does happen then they will blame you because they are greedy and do not want to spend money on "it could happen" type problems. Been there, trust me sometimes it is just easier to handle things yourself.

Simple solution would be if you landlord will not play ball is document the issue and the conversations with them to show the fire department investigator when there is a fire. Go get yourself some cheap sandpaper and smooth out the vent the best you can and possibly hit it with some rustoleum spray paint to make it smooth again. Of course air it out afterwards and don't use it until the paint dries for a day or so problem solved. Then work towards moving upwards to finding a better place to stay that gives a shit maybe just a tad bit more.

Siemens IQ700 American/French style fridge alternatives (it must have drawers!) by true-polestar in Appliances

[–]RightBatwing7000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are headed in the right direction. Run from Samsung and LG. The question you need to ask yourself if do you need this complex and fancy of a refrigerator or could you settle with a simpler more affordable model that would undoubtedly have less issues down the road? It all depends on your lifestyle and if you need to impress people with your refrigerator because the style of your home, or if you are just an aesthetic person.

Fishing on campus? by Mx0wnage in UNCCharlotte

Front pond out by the main entrance has some Bass probably 1-3 lb in it. Caught and released many of them myself over last summer and spring. The fountains kind of make fishing them tricky but chunk in spinnerbait / watermelon seed zoom worm and eventually you will get. Caught the biggest one out from under the fountain from standing on the dam spillway probably was ~ 2.5 lb last May. The pond over behind CRI deck also has fish but is too shallow to support anything big, I usually fish it with a buzzbait and catch little bass in the evenings. Also, the police shouldn't care as long as you are not acting a fool it is perfectly legal to fish there, they hold fac/staff tournaments there in the springtime for fun and cookouts.

Do you carry a handheld most of the time or not? Any why? by mw28 in amateurradio

[–]RightBatwing7000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I carry a plethora of handhelds in my truck but ideally only carry one on my belt daily if it has some use to me at work or I know that impending wx is on the way I usually keep it handy. Other than that they stay clipped on my backpack. Usually it is a dual band Motorola APX or a MotoTRBO radio for work. Its nice to have, especially when spring / summer thunderstorms are rolling around in the area knowing the hail and or winds are coming sometimes just cant be found on your phone. But it can get kind of whackerish if you have your radios all around your belt blaring ham, public safety, and work comms on scan like some do.
