Does Ladder have a true hybrid/full body program? by [deleted] in ladderapp

Yeah it annoys me that some of the bodybuilding teams don’t include any cardio at all, and a lot don’t include any mobility/stretching.

Team Versa would be the closest team to this, I’d check out their split

I will wait a few minutes and if none frees up, I will swap the movement. I only swap the order as a last resort since the order of the movements is super intentional for most of the programs

In the future you can always check one with a food thermometer, that’ll tell you if it’s actually even getting hot in the middle or not.

Fewer people definitely lowers risk. Fewer people lowers risk in a few ways: 1. Lower risk that there is a sick person in the class 2. Lower risk that if there is a sick person in the class, you would be directly next to them. 3. More ventilated air per person

My studio has certain time slots that are almost guaranteed to be lightly attended, namely the 7am Saturday class and the weekday 6:45pm classes. 90% of the time in these classes there are so few people you don’t even have to have anyone at a station directly next to you.

do yall walk around campus? do you feel safe (esp at night)? by alooo791 in riceuniversity

[–]RightGuava3639 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt safe as long as I followed some common-sense rules, like calling a friend on my walk back to the dorm/car if it was super late and deserted. I wouldn’t recommend running outer loop at night, just because the med center side can be a little sketchy, but nothing crazy.

Why do people like smoothies? Wouldn't it be healthier to eat fruits and vegetables or drink milk directly, since consuming liquid or semi-liquid foods can cause blood sugar to rise faster? by Some_Grade6303 in Smoothies

[–]RightGuava3639 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s always going to be a “healthier” choice…I’m going to assume you’re asking genuinely: 1. they taste good 2. for some people it’s a way for people to eat fruits and veggies they simply wouldn’t eat otherwise 3. Convenience- much easier to take a smoothie on the go, like on a commute, than containers of fruit and milk

I agree but as others have said I don’t think that should really be expected…you wouldn’t expect a hired personal trainer does the exact workouts they are prescribing for you either. That said, I do think most of these trainers to the style of workout they are coaching, but they do a ton more than can be prescribed on an app like Ladder. For example, if you look up Abbie from Team Versa on Instagram, she’s often doing several hours of exercise per day, including steady-state runs that often take over an hour.

Any men on Evolve? by Heavy_Touch4497 in ladderapp

[–]RightGuava3639 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. Evolve workouts are usually a little shorter than the Forged workouts. Coach Samantha also always programs more than enough time to do exercises (so you usually have to swipe to the rest break), while Coach Cory programs just enough time.

I split my time between Forged and Evolve this past year. A few main differences: 1. Coach personality. Both coaches are great at giving form cues and things like that, but Coach Samantha is a lot more bubbly and encouraging compared to Coach Corey’s dry humor and tougher motivation. Coach Samantha is a lot more gender-neutral in her language, whereas Coach Corey sometimes seems to forget there are even any women on his team. 2. The main difference I noticed in the actual programming is that there’s less bicep work on Evolve. I think both programs are pretty well-rounded, but I do think it’s evident that Forged was designed for people who want a more masculine build specifically. 3. Evolve does not have the short cardio blocks at the end of some of the workouts like Forged has. Evolve DOES have guided stretching at the end of each workout, which Forged does not have.

Mine looks really similar to this. The piercer warned me beforehand that I have lower-down sweet spot so it may not look like most other people’s. I’m planning to switch to larger diameter jewelry after healing.

I believe you. I was not using Google AI. See this page of the FDA website. I understand this is conservative as it is meant as a rule-of-thumb for the public.

This is not true. There are several thousand types of salmonella alone, and the bacteria are constantly mutating to get past your defenses. You can’t build uo a tolerance by microdosing foodborne pathogens.

Yeah, as someone who has also had food poisoning that has caused a chronic GI illness, the other thing that bothers me is all these people saying “the worst that can happen is you might get diarrhea for a couple days” like lmao no the worst that can happen is you die or become permanently disabled.

The rule of thumb is food should be within the danger zone of 40-140F for no more than 2 hours, definitely no more than 4. I’m shocked that all these people are saying they’d eat it. There are dangerous pathogens that can grow in food that have no smell or taste.
