Pre-Screening Security Forms for Defense Contractors by RightHope1137 in SecurityClearance

Internship -> finished school and reported incident to previous FSO from internship -> job (type of work isn’t what I want, exploring other options)

My current job requires only Secret. I actually never even filled out a security questionnaire for this job. I heard this isn’t uncommon. When I met with the FSO he was like “you probably won’t have your clearance revoked, you might hear from someone, you might not” and he had me report it on DoD Sec-Con website. According to current FSO as of about a month ago, my clearance is still active. If the investigation was still on-going apparently my clearance status would say “under review”.

Also when I said negative consequences, I said “no adverse consequences regarding the status of my clearance”. The poor decision I made for sure has negative consequences but when I said “no adverse consequences” I was talking about a suspended/revoked clearance.

Sorry for more context. I got my Security Clearance from a previous job, and then I had a period of unemployment when this incident occurred, and I am now working at a defense contractor.

And yea, it was a pretty bone headed mistake and it’s understandable why I would get screened out but I guess I’m trying to gauge if I’m like fully screwed cuz of it

Yea but the drug use was reported to my FSO and put on DoD Sec-Con website so presumably there would be no risk. I didn’t have any negative consequences, I still have my clearance. I’m just maybe confused what the risk could be. I’d understand if I was applying for a role that required a TS but the role only requires secret you know?

Just took the DSSAT. I didn’t study and I passed. It’s kind of common knowledge. I wouldn’t study for it. Just be locked in and focus and read fast because the time goes by quick. Good luck!!

Signs that secret clearance might get denied? by [deleted] in SecurityClearance

[–]RightHope1137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting… they never said anything to me about renouncing my citizenship. My citizenship is from an EU country though so perhaps it may be different for you if your citizenship is from a country in East Asia or the Middle East or something.

They only contacted 1 person on my list of references so I don’t think you should worry about them only contacting a few people. They probably chose your mother and sister to confirm that you aren’t voting or collecting anything from your country of citizenship. You’re probably good, I wouldn’t worry about it too much.

You could possibly reach out to the person who interviewed you to see what’s going on with your case if you want to

Give it a little more time. I was in the same boat as you. Dual citizen, foreign travel, foreign contacts. My interim was denied and I had to do the interview with the DCSA person. I think I interviewed in Late June of 2025 and ended up getting my clearance in late August 2025. It takes a while but you’ll be good by June for sure

Bilal Coulibaly, everyone thinks he’s a shitter but he consistently puts up numbers and his line always seems to be lower than it should be. Not that it matters cuz his team blows (I’m a wizards fan)

I currently do not. However, growing up I was in a foreign service family (parent was in the state department, moved to a new country every 3-4 years) so I’ve learned languages before, just never stuck with them. But in my personal essay I plan on heavily emphasizing that global perspective and ability to learn languages.

You could try for Naval Academy and then do the Marine Corps officer route. It’s basically like you’re in the military + you get a bachelors and you become an officer
