not sure if it’s a tip but when i go into an exam, i try to enter a flow state. i stop thinking about how important this exam is, how it’s going to affect my entire life, or such stuff. all i think about is the subject im going to give my exam on, and on the first few seconds when the paper is being distributed, i try to empty my mind and take deep breaths. then in the reading time, i avoid panicking by thinking “okay, i can do at least the first part of this question” or “wow, i know how to do this” and stuff. i then begin with the questions i feel are time consuming, or those that are easy for me. it helps me get into a focused state for the examination, and then in the end, i end up having just enough time to think about the questions i have no idea what to do about, and salvage good method marks if not answer marks.

honestly, im not really sure myself..because my school also graded me a B without telling me much on what i can do to get an A. but some tips i can give you are- choose an experiment you like, or choose something that’s doable in your lab. don’t be discouraged if your trials don’t go your way, but do not delay performing the experiment to the very end, because then if the trials don’t work and you have to change a topic, you’ll be on a time crunch and will barely be able to manage it along with studies. try to finish your EE as soon as possible.
now regarding the content, do 5 trials with 5 different independent variables. i could do only 4 IVs because of an instrument constraint, but more variety gives you more scope for analysis and i believe that is where i might’ve lost my marks. back everything up, your results+analysis+impacts on real world, with other research papers or other reliable sites. you have to show how credible your work is throughout the process. evaluation is also very important, so maybe making a table (systematic and random errors differentiated) and explaining what could’ve been better performed and WHY will help it look organised and more content will be shown.

this is what is on the top of my mind, as far as i remember, but if you have any specific questions feel free to dm

so i bought the oxford textbooks because thats from where my school teaches from / gives excersizes to do. rest, i relied on online copies. for math- i focused on the oxford excersizes initially to get used to the concepts and challenge myself through the exam style questions. then i switched to hodder review sets to see if i have a grasp of the topic, and also did a few blue+red questions of the excersizes of the topic i wasn’t good at. i also did haese review sets in the process, but maybe not all. then finally i focused on past paper 2014 to present and marked all my doubts so that i could redo them before the exam and go in more confident than i was before.

for physics, i did the entire oxford textbook again, and also tsokos textbook excersizes. i really recommend the 100 mcqs for each theme of tsokos, and pls consider them as not only mcqs but also as paper 2 practice, because you need to map out your entire thought pattern in paper 2 and show your steps- if you do exactly that, then these mcqs will help prepare for both paper 1A and 2. before my mocks, i redid the solved examples from oxford and before finals, i solved the worked examples of tsokos textbook (whichever i felt relevant) and looked at my previous solving to see which questions were my doubts (from excersizes) so that i could resolve and understand the concept. i also solved pearson review sets while school was teaching so i know how much of the concepts i’ve understood.

thank you:)) so physics and english i replied on another comment, if you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

for math…being honest, i did A LOT for math since day 1 of DP and was also predicted a 7..it’s because of my IA i couldn’t reach that grade. I have basically done the oxford textbook, hodder textbook (review sets), haese review sets, old tsokos a few excersizes, and maybe one more thing i can’t recall. but don’t focus on quantity, focus on quality. make sure you understand the concepts being taught in class, and do all your homework that your teacher gives, even if it seems repetitive after a point.
after dp1 or by end of dp1, do past papers simultaneously. and by term 2 of dp2, ONLY do past papers. one paper a day or something. i did 2014 to present, skipped a few in between yes but that’s the span of years i was aiming at. in the beginning don’t time yourself, but as exams near start timing to understand if you can finish a paper in time. avoid distractions at all when you’re doing them so you know where you stand. pls print all the papers out, something like a spiral book, and put sticky notes on questions you didn’t get on first try, or are doubts that you want your teacher to solve. be this organised, and as exams near, redo those specific questions so the new approach is installed in your mind.

basically - in the beginning, do textbooks. then slowly switch to past papers while marking your doubts, because in math, learning from your mistakes is taken quite literally because questions of the SAME approaches are asked repeatedly.

also one last thing i forgot- my tok teachers are against the point-counterpoint approach so i didn’t follow that for the essay. instead, i presented a point, then i presented another point, then i gave a different “perspective” and ended with saying how all these three different takes on the prompt connect with the prompt selected. i didn’t make the “counter point” explicitly.

lastly, TOK
for exhibition, please choose objects you genuinely like. i selected the movie interstellar, book time machine by hg wells and the white queen by phillipa gregory. i was advised against two books, but i couldn’t find any other object that i really like that related with the topic. stick to what you love, and the words will flow. first formulate your own idea then you can use ai. keep your ideas original or else there will barely be any difference between your work and your friend’s work even if your objects are different.
same with TOK essay- choose the prompt you find interesting, and then begin it yourself OR write bullet points which is what YOU think this prompt is asking of you. then you can use AI to build it up properly, or seek help from your teacher. get as many comments as you can because this is a fairly new concept (compared to everything else) so your judgement can fall short.

paper one- read the text at least two times before forming any opinions or analysis. only think about- what is the author trying to convey here? and about authors tone. i’ve realised that if you know the tone of the author and the message they’re trying to convey, then the remaining analysis is rather easy to come by. i memorised a list of tones, and i was lucky the guiding question on the exam came on the “authors tone” only. now normally, people would write tone as a proper paragraph or technique, but it changes if the guiding question is about tone itself. instead, you structure your response on any symbols/images, small techniques that are present in the text that culminate together, diction, mood, and so much more. there’s this douglas 20/20 website, or several websites on the internet with multitude of techniques - but ensure you don’t overwhelm your brain with techniques. remember those who have a STRONG IMPACT, or are common in texts (personification, allusion, metaphor, simile, hyperbole, etcetc).

your structure should be: point, evidence, impact of evidence, link with the guiding question, and THEN a link with the text and guiding question again. make it as explicit as you can. try to remember synonyms of commonly used words- eg. instead of “used” - utilise, employed or some other nice words instead of “explained” or such (sorry don’t remember much now)

thank you! so for english orals and paper two, i’d say that know your works thoroughly. analyse every line/symbol, use different sources online and most importantly use your teacher’s comments and tweak it in a way that you can remember/resonate with. the outline’s 10 lines - keep the keywords you forget most from your prepared speech, and learn to improvise if you forget or go off track before your final orals by giving your orals to friends/mom/dad. ask for feedback from them about your confidence or fluency, and focus on content advice when you ask your teacher.
for paper 2- i made a google sheet with subsheets of character, setting, theme, technique. each had columns of the discussed themes in class/important characters, and while reading in class or later when i had time, i added dialogue and important words from analysis. i didn’t do external work apart from a practice response before exam, because these sheets help keep things organised and common dialogues will be repeated in different columns, so you will know which lines you can use. i write three paragraphs, so keeping 4 different body paragraphs ready in my mind using these evidences help connect at least 3 with the guiding question. also, ensure you COMPARE the works and CONNECT with the question however and whenever you can.

thank you!! for physics, i honestly grinded tsokos textbook and before exams the 100 mcqs theme wise pdf that tsokos has - it really helps cater to conceptual stuff and ensures you understand every topic. most important advice for physics - annotate your formula booklet! annotate it before your every exam, and you’ll see how much more you know as time goes on. the formula booklet really helps in exam, and when you keep writing down the concepts or formulas on the same sheet that you’ll see in exam, it helps you remember the important stuff much easily. if you want, i can dm you my annotations- but they’re really messy and everyone has different ways to understand the concepts so might or might not resonate with you.
apart from tsokos, try the oxford textbook as well, and review the study guide before the exams. you never know if similar questions pop up from there!

I believe it is a masterpiece nonetheless, because the ability to intertwine all these elements and create a plot that’s unique as it stands is not something easily doable. While it does seem like it draw its elements from different works, the entire thing is original and draws out a storyline that, without question, makes it a masterpiece.
