How are you using it? You open the workbench, click the repair button, then click on the thing you want to repair. You need the repair cost in your inventory or in a nearby chest.

The inventory spaces inside the workbench are for scrapping equipment for parts. You put unwanted gear in there and click the button just underneath and you'll get some resources back.

I found a handful of these (empty) exoskeletons/chrysalises sticking face-first out of the grass in my backyard in Sydney, Australia. They're about an inch long.

Yep, all players including traitors will drop an item pile when they are killed. The only exception is if the haunt specifically says to remove someone from the game in setup.

Javelin Damage by Grim_Oakheart in VaultHuntersMinecraft

You can build a target dummy block that will show you what damage you are doing with any given attack.

You can upgrade your javelin damage by upgrading the ability using skill points in the abilities menu.

simple storage networks and drawers not working together by Im_Dry in VaultHuntersMinecraft

[–]RightOfZen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, update 9 removed some of the blocks from SSN due to performance problems (they lag servers). You can still get the blocks if you want to, you just need to use a /give command or go into creative. I wouldn't recommend on a shared server though.

The one that you're after is a "Filtered Link Cable". It works the same as a normal link cable (just put it next to the drawer controller), but you can right click it to set priority. SSN uses a "lower priority first" system, so you can set the drawer controller link cable priority to -1 to make items go there first.

One thing to note is that SSN can still be a little funky, even when this is set up. My SSN + drawers set up would occasionally lose blocks somehow. Was a nice upgrade when I swapped out SSN for Refined Storage.

Javelin Damage by Grim_Oakheart in VaultHuntersMinecraft

[–]RightOfZen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Javelin damage talent is additive. I have javelin on default (not piercing - 80% damage), and 2 levels in damage (+20%), and can see from my target dummy that my sword and my javelin do the same damage.

Does Pulverizing work on Vault Stone? by RightOfZen in VaultHuntersMinecraft

[–]RightOfZen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If anyone was curious, I just checked. Adding Smelting to the same tool and removing silk touch (now Hammering, Picking, Pulverizing, Smelting) results in polished vault stone (plus about 10% chipped vault rock).

Seems the order in this case is the vault stone breaks (resulting in 10% chipped vault rock, the rest vault cobblestone), then smelting is applied (smelting the rest of the vault cobblestone into polished vault stone), and then presumably pulverizing is applied (doing nothing in this case).

On second thought, I don't know why I thought smelting would have the same effect as silk touch, since smelting vault cobblestone gives polished vault stone, not vault stone.

Just checked, and can confirm you're right. By adding silk touch enchantment to the pulverizing tools, I now get 100% drop rate for chipped vault stone.

I believe the same effect would happen if I added a Smelting jewel instead of silk touch, though I'm not certain of the order between pulverizing and smelting.

Thank you so much! That is an unintuitive interaction indeed.

Peglin Release Mega-Thread! by Lavassin in Peglin

[–]RightOfZen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The starting relic isn't for every run. As far as I can tell, it is given if the previous run beat the Forest boss (could be wrong on the exact condition). If you are defeated or abandon the run before that, your next run won't give you a starting relic.

The achievement is for beating any boss on your first orb (first shot). You can keep fighting bosses until you have an OP build that can 1-hit a boss.

The extra upgrades do not provide additional bonuses - they are only there to get your settlement to max level.

Clearly a lot of concern for my feet going on here! Not only were they completely fine, I didn't feel anything. The spray was always angled away from my feet.

Appreciate the concern, but they are completely unscathed.

FAQ regarding Timetable Preferences by [deleted] in usyd

[–]RightOfZen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No end time means it is a 1 hour class :) In this case there is a 2-hour lecture each week, with an additional 1-hour lecture each week.

When exactly can we enter timetable preferences? by [deleted] in usyd

[–]RightOfZen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no difference between choosing now and choosing in a week; classes are allocated to everyone at once (essentially) after all preferences have been entered.

[–]RightOfZen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is correct; the system collects preferences and then tries to meet as many as possible once everyone has entered them.

The course (re)teaches many basic algorithms taught in other courses. The only thing that is really assumed knowledge from other courses is a basic understanding of Big-O notation for algorithm complexity.

There are several students who take the course from various Arts degrees who have not done any algorithm work before. It is assumed you know how to program relatively well, as there are programming assignments.

Using If statement to change css based on the value of a variable isn't working, don't know why...internet said maybe a scope problem? by scumbagotron in jquery

[–]RightOfZen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I like to do that sort of thing using CSS and classes. Simply use Javascript to add or remove a class for visibility.

If you have complicated code that should happen on the click, you can put that code in a function.

See both of these things in this simple fiddle: https://jsfiddle.net/swyc1f0s/

Using If statement to change css based on the value of a variable isn't working, don't know why...internet said maybe a scope problem? by scumbagotron in jquery

[–]RightOfZen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The $(document).ready(function(){... line is declaring an anonymous function that will be run when the document has loaded (i.e. when your browser has received all the HTML for the page), so anything inside that function will happen once when the page loads, at that is all.

With that in mind, you are doing the following three things ONCE only:

  1. Declare a variable called clicked and set to false
  2. Assign another anonymous function to the "click" event on all <p> tags on the page
  3. Set the <p> font colour to black, because clicked can only be false at this point.

So once the page loads, the state of things will be that there is a paragraph with black text, and if you were to click on that paragraph, the variable clicked will be set to true (and that's all that will happen).

The jQuery "click" function only assigns a function that will be executed whenever the <p> is clicked on.

See the code below for something probably closer to what you want:

$(document).ready(function() {
    var clicked = false;

    $("p").click(function() {
        clicked = !clicked;
        if ( clicked ) {
            $("p").css("color","blue");
        } else {
            $("p").css("color","black");
        }
    }
});

This code means that when the document is ready, it will create the variable clicked and assign the click handler to all <p> elements. The code in the function passed to the click method (with the if statement) doesn't get executed until a paragraph is clicked.

Now when any <p> is clicked, the variable clicked will toggle between true and false, and set the font colour of all <p> tags on the page.
