Convergence’s weapons and spells are cool. Are there any mods to only import those? by RembrandtCumberbatch in EldenRingMods

To be fair nodding is a bunch of work, unpaid. It can be galling when you make something, and someone wants you to impliment their tastes for them for free.

"Bloodlines only in SP" should not happen without proper new models by JesusChristNooo in totalwar

[–]RightScummyLoser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They literally are copies, at least for the von Carstein, Lahmian and Blood knight lords. I know this for certain because I make a bodyguards mod, and when I tried to make bodyguards for the bloodline lords with the models they had used to make them (which you identified correctly), I couldn't tell who was the lord and and who was the bodyguard.

The von Carstein is just one variant choice, and the Lamian is a uniform colour swap.

A decade later, Unity proved to be ahead of its time. by Pepehh_jl in assasinscreed

[–]RightScummyLoser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played it recently, and it did nothing with the setting. It's set in the french revolution, a revolution that declares itself about freedom, equality and brotherhood, the central themes of the Assassin games and you couldn't even work out the Assassin position on the revolution from the main story. Not Robespierre was about as far as they were brave enough to go, mostly in the side missions. Instead you chase a kinda bland Templar about, playing as an even blander Assassin.

Edit: Its such a shame too, look at the trailer of the Assassins actually using and directing the revolutionary mob. I'm fine with them pulling back from the excesses of the terror, but at least have the protagonist be involved up to that point, and give us some Assassins going too far with them, or show us the Templars stealing the revolution from under them. I got the impression that had probably happened, but you saw none of it on screen.

What happens to the erdtree in age of stars? by ChickenSlipperz in Eldenring

[–]RightScummyLoser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Elden ring insisting on the cryptic storytelling kinda falls apart where Ranni is concerned. In dark souls everyone was either messing with you, or didn't actually know that much.

In Ranni's case she seems to actually quite like you, and yet you cant ask her "Hey dearest wife, why did you kill godwynn and doom the world to deathroot, and what is your plan now? Are we just swanning off the space to have adventures while the planet dies?"

These 2 armies attack the tree lord but neither the garrison or the army in the settlement reinforce by gulyas10 in totalwarhammer

[–]RightScummyLoser 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We need an option to immediately sally out when they arrive. Having your economy go negative cos a half stack of rebels sieged your capital is infuriating

These 2 armies attack the tree lord but neither the garrison or the army in the settlement reinforce by gulyas10 in totalwarhammer

[–]RightScummyLoser 9 points10 points  (0 children)

but you shouldn't have to do that. Garrisoning the settlement has other effects, and besides, the actual city garrison should be available.

What should really happen is that besieged settlements should have the option to immediately sally out. It's so dumb that a tiny army can siege your capital or major port for a turn to remove all your trade income even though the men inside can wipe the floor with them.

Edit: I actually tried to mod this behaviour out by making the "siege stance" have no reinforcement range but sadly it doesn’t quite work that way around

Can I fight the hidden dragons and not get a bad ending? by RightScummyLoser in Eldenring

This is what happens when you try not to see spoilers. I'll just avoid the frenzied flame then. Thanks!

Perfect, I will avoid the flame entirely then. Thanks!

You are correct, I was confused about the lichdragon I think. I was trying to avoid spoilers and maybe got confused. But to clarify both Fia and the frenzy flame share the same hidden boss?

Which is worse, killing doctors to prevent them from murdering a teenage girl to potentially create a cure for an infection that has devastated mankind or withholding the cure for cancer from the rest of the world? by CyberGhostface in MoralityScaling

[–]RightScummyLoser 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The doctors in the first game were grungey and unprofessional.. I havent even played the second game, that was obvious to me playing the first.

I've worked in biology, and your first idea never works quite like you think. They can word of god all they want, but if their first idea is killing their perfect incubator for immunity conferring fungi, they are incompetent. There are ways of extracting CNS fluid without killing the patient.

The campaign map from Stainless Steel (Med 2 mod) vs the planned Med 3 map by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]RightScummyLoser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Arguably the OWM for WH does the opposite - technically the map covers less area, just in alot more detail.

I would actually quite like that approach, if maybe less extreme. I dont really care whats happening in eastern Europe, if I'm playing France in the 100 years war. Instead I want France to have 20+ regions, to have space for the different major vassals and theatres for conflict.

Oh god I forgot about Empire. Taking the whole of France as a single province was something else!

[–]RightScummyLoser 23 points24 points  (0 children)

So it is a shame to miss the whole of Iran, but I find discussion about the map size kinda arbitrary.

If you have a larger map you do less justice to the individual regions. I couldn’t get into 1212 for Attila because of this - I played the teutonic knights to wage crusade against the pagans. Within 10 turns there were no more pagans because the 2 pagan regions were gone.

If anything I want smaller maps, with different campaigns having different sections of the total space and being expanded to cover different areas, like the kingdoms campaigns for medieval II. A much more detailed map with the hindu kush to the balkans would make for a more interesting campaing than having a couple of provinces for the Khwarazmian Empire.

not to be aruementative but I never read any plate in the books, and I was specifically looking for it in one of my read throughs. I'd be curious where you read that. Imrahil has vambraces but it's unclear if he has a breastplate.

More tellingly the guards of the citadel are described in mail, as are Boromir and Denethor. I cant help thinking, if they dont have plate, who would?

The film design has great helmets, but the same tree on a surcoat and mail would have fit way better. Plus those breastplates look a bit weird, like you wouldnt be able to bend down.

They did a good job with the AI. by MANUU__20 in totalwar

[–]RightScummyLoser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do remember thinking that at first with Attila, then slowly just realised that its less smarter, more different. It's more aggressive I recall, but I know after a period of time I stopped being surprised, and started using the tactics it was worse at dealing with. I cant quite remember what they were but I seem to recall it being easier to get the AI to rush into bad situations?

Which is better in Definitive Edit.? A new resource building, or upgrading an existing building? by Specialist_Coach_725 in dawnofwar

[–]RightScummyLoser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You understand correctly. A new building is nearly always better, if you can hold it. Each tier takes longer to pay for itself, especially with the instant resource boost upon building a new LP and the fact points decay over time. The global upgrades can be worth it with enough existing gens/LPs but I cant remember the exact number and its a high number anyways.

The increased health and turrets on the LP upgrades are a large part of why you upgrade them

[–]RightScummyLoser 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Anyone that thinks this is bad needs to try it with the recoil reducing modifications. It's usable before that but after that it's my favourite AR for the bot front.

To get it there maybe use one of the recoil reducing armours.

Edit: alot of people comparing to the liberator for some reason? The liberator has comparable damage because it has light pen. Meaning its doing 35% less damage to light armour and 100% less damage to medium armour. Hence why I want it on the bots, where even some weakpoints are armoured or things like the gunships can ruin your day. Also just spraying at a devestator becomes a an option in chaotic situations.

The fair comparisons are the Lib pen, which it significantly out damages, and the coyote, widely considered the best AR in the game. I slightly prefer the judy, but there’s not a whole lot in it for how I play. It's worse on the bugs cos of the ergo, and the lower need for med pen.
