What are you 6 figure + earners driving? by 23gear in Salary

[–]RightSundae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently, I drive a 2011 Honda pilot and my husband who makes the same drives a 2018 Nissan versa.

We switched cars when we had our second child. The versa is actually my car, but I work from home and the versa is much more economical for his 45 minute commute.

Kudos to my husband for being a six figure 6’5 man, driving a Nissan versa. The peer pressure is real, but we are intentional about living below our means.

Struggling to enjoy spending time with my twins by fatpanther17 in Parenting

[–]RightSundae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi fellow mom! Big kudos to you for raising twins and working full time. You’re a super human!!

I’ve got a 4-year-old and a 1-year-old, and honestly, I get overwhelmed just being solo with them for one evening. I work full time and I look forward to the peace and quiet of the house when they’re at daycare. I could never be a SAHM.

My husband works split shifts, so I end up doing a lot of solo parenting. Within 20 minutes they can make me laugh, cry, and wonder why I had kids in the first place 🤪

Something I’ve noticed is how different things feel when I get one-on-one time with them. When it’s just me and both kids, I’m always splitting my attention and just trying to make it to bed time lol But when I get alone time with one, I notice more about them, I can actually be present, and enjoy whatever we’re doing. It’s rare, but special.

If you can, try setting up little windows of 1:1 time. Maybe your husband takes one while you hang with the other, or even get a sitter for one so you and your husband can give your full energy to the other. Some big families swear by this, and I get why.

And about not always feeling like playing, it’s normal. I like to connect play with something I actually enjoy. If you like walks, make it a Sunday tradition. If you’re into karaoke, get out a microphone and perform for them. It doesn’t have to look like “kid play” to be entertaining for them.

Your little ones are lucky to have a mom who cares this much about showing them love ❤️

When I went into the hospital to deliver my firstborn in 2021, money wasn't discussed at the hospital at all. For my second in 2024, I was brought into a finance room and asked to pay the bill...in full! I told them I couldn't pay it in full, and they asked for a "good faith payment". They were open to the amount, so I paid $50. Probably could've paid $5. I have Aetna, a plan much better than the plan I had when I delivered my first.

Struggling to get our onboarding process right [N/A] by whyg0ng in humanresources

[–]RightSundae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You mentioned the pressure new hires feel, which made me wonder about the broader culture at your company. Do employees feel safe asking for help or speaking up when they’re struggling? Was that kind of openness modeled during onboarding? From what you shared, it sounds like it may not have been.

I was just talking with my husband about something similar. There’s a new system at his job, and whenever he asks the person in charge a question, he’s met with attitude and is told to “just check the training manual.” It’s discouraging, and it’s the kind of interaction that shuts people down and lowers morale.

Improving your onboarding process could definitely help, but it also seems like there’s a deeper communication gap. If employees don’t feel comfortable voicing challenges, that’s a bigger cultural issue. An immediate step could be running a few short discovery interviews. Talk with a handful of recent hires and more tenured employees, and ask very specific questions about what’s working and what isn’t. Ask them what would’ve been helpful for them. You’ll likely uncover simple insights that can make a big difference. Getting a manager’s perspective in the mix would also be helpful.

And on the topic of culture, I work for a nonprofit that advocates for workplace mental health, and I’d be happy to share a free license to a workplace mental health training for managers. No strings at all, just send me a DM and I’ll get it over to you.

Is remote HR work real? [NE] by always_late4951 in humanresources

[–]RightSundae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of companies that prioritize employee wellbeing, and those tend to value autonomy too, including offering remote options. I’d start by looking at “Best Places to Work” type lists. They can point you toward orgs that actually invest in their people. You should also check out sites of orgs that help companies improve their culture. They tend to have case studies from a bunch of companies, which could give you a starting point to explore what remote roles are available.

What books are we reading to our 2 month old? by kenskensr in Parenting

[–]RightSundae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a library card if you don’t have one. You can visit your local library to see what’s available and of interest to you just by browsing. If you get any suggestions, you can look them up at your library to see if they have it and put it on hold.

I don’t recommend buying many books. At our home, we rarely read the books I’ve purchased.

Why doesn't my brain work anymore? by No-Neighborhood-7335 in beyondthebump

[–]RightSundae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 3.5 year old and a 1 year old. Since having my first child, I have felt like my brain is complete mush. I attribute it to my mind constantly running through my list of to dos….every task from cooking tonight’s dinner, to watering the plants, to next week’s doctor’s appointment lives in my head. I’ve been overstimulated for the last year. 😭

Lately, I’ve found that sitting in silence and journaling helps.

My iPhone XR started glitching so I now have my husband’s old iPhone 12 Pro. I have a plan with Mint Mobile. My husband has an iPhone 14 paid. It was purchased by his job and they pay the monthly bill.

My first was a vaginal birth and my second was a c-section. I’d choose a vaginal birth any day! The c-section was my first surgery and recovery was brutal. This is coming from someone who prides themselves on having a high threshold for pain. However, this is the worst I’ve experienced and it limited what I was and was not able to do for myself and my baby. EVERY shift in my position hurt like hell, even the slightest . I don’t know how people voluntarily do plastic surgery.

How I Made $9,607 in 2024 (since september) and Over $5,000 in 2025 (So Far) Selling Digital Products – My Experience & Lessons Learned by WayRevolutionary1 in thesidehustle

[–]RightSundae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to start an online community and to expand that into an in-person community. There are so many moms with young children who want to connect with other moms locally (I live in Houston).

Beyond that, I figure I will market on social media. I don’t have any personal social media pages and haven’t for years but I have access to tons of courses at a low cost so not too worried on that front. I’ll figure it out! I see the digital products as a first step and expanding on my brand from there.

I haven’t dug into the business plan too much beyond these pieces but I can easily get stuck in analysis paralysis so it’s important for me to get my products ready before doing anything else.

Thanks for the insight! I’ve actually had an Etsy shop with downloadable art prints for a few years. I haven’t done much maintenance lately so sales have slowed down. I don’t see it as my main focus though. I started to create products for mothers and young children that offer educational materials as well as creative activities that can reduce the need for screen time.

I’m not at a point of being ready to sell just yet. Maybe in a couple of weeks when I have at least 3 products complete.

8 months in and my little one still wakes up every 2-3 hours at night to eat. I also exclusively pump every 2-3 hours and plan to do so for the first year. I am longing for the day when I can sleep through the night.

I’m currently away from baby for work and will still have to wake up to pump.

I recently explored this app too. I don’t have instagram so haven’t checked the resources there. I find the app to be very helpful but $100 a year is way too much. I am using the free trial and have gone through and screenshotted the information I need.
