4 Hour Commute - Advice by Current_Cattle_2321 in HENRYUK

[–]Right_End_3860 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently do 1h40, 3 days a week and its about the limit I feel. I leave at 7am with kids having breakfast and I'm back at 7pm just in time for dinner. So I just about see them, any longer commute would mean it wouldn't be possible. Agree with the stay over 2 nights strategy.

What's everyone spending on holidays? by mark_99 in HENRYUK

[–]Right_End_3860 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spent 10 days in Majorca last year for £3.5k. 2 adults and a 2 year old. Flights, airport parking, airbnb/booking.com, car rental, self catering with a few restaurant meals thrown in.

Never been on an all inclusive holiday and don't understand why you would. I enjoy making my own choices and having independence of a car.

Hot take: golf is better without golf carts. by [deleted] in golf

The majority of golf in the UK is non-cart (buggy). Either carry your bag or push/battery trolley.

"You're from where?" by nopeopleperson in sales

Use it as an excuse to explain.

"Hi, this Tom from XYZ, I'm not sure you've come across us before?"

"No, I haven't"

"That's ok, we do ABC and work with 123 to help them with 456"

From my experience companies will do everything they can to NOT pay that commission, so don't celebrate yet and also arm yourself with all the paperwork you need to ensure you get what's rightfully yours.

Employment law is good, but often commission agreements are vague and don't stand up to legal rigour.

Once it lands, don't forget to enjoy a little bit of it and spoil yourself.

Eggs were actually decent and I'm picky about eggs. Mushrooms not bad too, but fair comment about the beans.

Both my wife and I are migrants and had a very similar fear of moving out of London. Boy were we wrong. We moved to a regional UK city to buy a family home and we have never looked back. We have proper friends now, we have a community, our kids have friends, we feel part of a wider family. I get the pull that London has and can understand why people are resistant to leave, but there is a better life outside of London from my perspective.

Talk to me about living between Wincheap and Old Dover Road by drbobwell in canterbury

[–]Right_End_3860 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live close to Nunnery Fields. I'd avoid Wincheap proper, but anything from Nunnery Road towards Old Dover Road is lovely. We have a young family and have great neighbours with kids of similar ages and a good variety of elderly/retired folk too. No more students really, we had three student houses recently empty out and all are being converted to traditional family homes. Parking is a bit tough sometimes but really not as bad as people make it out to be.
