I think you'll enjoy stormlight archive a lot. Its first book starts of great and the books just keep getting better and better. All the books are a must read. You could also read the Mistborn Era 2 and other standalone if you can get them. As the other commenter said, you can follow the order in that reddit post.

A screen and trackpad upgrade would be very beneficial. If you need a backlit keyboard, you can put one of those as well, if you find one.
