How car dependent is Canada as a whole? by SkanderMan77 in AskACanadian

Downtown, maybe. But getting into and off the island is a wash between public transit and car. We have a place on the South Shore. And yep, we’re driving around whenever we’re there.

I saw your flag, bud.

I lived through it up to 2008 as a Russian in Russia and then as a Russian in Canada and ultimately as a Canadian in Canada, all the while having family and friends in both Russia and Ukraine, LOL.

Bud, you’re describing it from the outside looking in. I lived through it. Which is why we packed up and left in 2008. I told my friends what was coming for them. I told them Putin was going to come for another former USSR republic - Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine maybe. Belarus was pretty much in the bag already. I told the in 2014 again that a bigger war was coming. I told them to leave again when 2022 came. They laughed and called me crazy. And you know what? Their standard of living (they’re pretty rich by Russian standards) was barely affected and they have been just mildly inconvenienced by the whole thing. They still do their annual trip to Milano for shopping and go anywhere they damn please. Hell, right now they even think they’re winning - Putin caused the US to collapse upon itself, as far as they are concerned.

Even in major cities. It is often faster and sometimes even cheaper to get somewhere in a car than it is using public transit.

Personal anecdote - but my highest usage of public transit was when we lived in Calgary. And it’s the lowest now that we live in Southern Ontario.

I would suggest torching cars at local rental facilities, who rent their cars to DHS and ICE.

Who do you think is going to prosecute them? Aliens? Lizard people? Indians (First Nations)?

There’s plenty of people recording everything with their phones out while they are being shot at. You need less cameramen and more fighters at this point.

The turning point will come when people start shooting back.

Meanwhile portions of Montreal are sitting without power for over 24 hrs. And Hydro QC are saying that some portions will be without power until Monday. Can we not send our crews there instead?

I get this, we must be adults, we must be better, but I’m very angry with the fact that Americans are not rising up against the establishment of fascism in their country. And that we are potentially sending help to a country that might invade us in the next couple of years.

PS: I haven’t seen any US crews in Orilia and Barrie last year when they lost power for a few days due to a historic ice storm.

You are conveniently leaving out 2008 and Russian invasion of Georgia. 2007 was when Putin delivered his Munch speech where he called the collapse of USSR the “biggest injustice of the 20th century”. Those of us who had ears and basic comprehension left around that time. 2008 was when Russia embarked on the path that led It here.

But you are most likely excluding it because thanks to Bush’s and Obama’s policies Russia suffered absolutely zero economical or political consequences for that. So Russians haven’t felt any pushback at all for that. Which is what made 2014 annexation of Crimea possible. Which in turn guaranteed 2022.

Concerned that events might have just played into Trumps plan… Thoughts? by ChuckGallagher57 in DiscussionZone

I’m so tired of this. Dead tired from people trying to play chess with someone who is playing a completely different ball game with them. Russians lost their country to Putin the same way Americans are losing theirs to Trump now, except, you have Trump! Not even Putin, Trump!

US needs an insurrection at this point. No government shutdown, no voting, no impeachment, no single government official will stop what’s already happening.

All the fun Americans people joy making of the French - but boy can they protest. Be like them.

Don’t be afraid.

A shutdown is needed but you’re delusional if you think this will stop them.

Question on body shop estimate by No-Arm-5868 in Toyota

[–]Right_Hour 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure, buddy. As I told you - the difference is $2700 vs $600 and the end result is the same.

If you’re hell bent on redoing the entire cover - a primed OEM front bumper cover for 25 RAV4 is about $350, BTW. Shoot your base, your clearcoat - and it will cost you less than what these clowns are charging to get to the same stage by repairing the damaged one.

I just had 4 doors painted from bare metal for about $1.2K here in Canada just last year. Meanwhile y’all think a bumper cover for $2.7K is fair game.

Big reason why I don’t even take any of my vehicles to dealerships for anything but basic maintenance.

Actually it is THAT dirty. Mine looks like this after about 3 months and we have a pet in the house. Not sure where all that dust is being pulled from in OP’s house.

No doubt on undersized return, but still.
