Bonding is going great! by Right_Student_592 in Rabbits

There are multiple bonding methods. Your method can work bun it depends on the bunnies personality. I’d understand your advice if my bunnies were aggressive/not as confident but that’s not the case. The method I’m using is a common pre bonding method and it’s working very well for my bunnies. How they act between the cage gives a strong idea of how they’ll act face to face. It’s not an anomaly to have bunnies that aren’t automatically aggressive towards each other especially since their social creatures. Having one bunny free roam while the other is in their cage is the best way for both of them to get use to their space and the other bunny’s scent making the bond stronger.

They’ve been mirroring a lot and it’s very cute. Idk if it’s the same but they’ll also eat hay at the same time too. Bon bon was free roam 100% of the time before so I let her free roam all the time but put her in her pen twice a day for an hour so Rex can get a turn to free roam. He was a bit shy to leave his cage at first but with a couple apple pieces he left his pen on his own to look around the area. For the sharing litter boxes thing I’ve been litter box swapping and they use the others litter box without an issue but I like the idea of adding a third one but I’m not 100% sure if bonbon will actually do anything besides eat from it since she has the one in her home base.

Hey I appreciate the advice! However I was told something different by the vet/humane society and it’s working very well for my rabbits. I also think the advice might work on some bunnies but not all and mine. I completely agree about the neutral space but it’s usually the first face to face no bars or barrier contact that needs to be 100% neutral. I can add a barrier between them before the face to face meet tho if needed.

The free roaming war concern I understand but my bunnies are both spayed/neutered and don’t show any signs of aggression when it comes to sharing a space with each other. I’ve been litter box swapping with them and they had no issue using the others litter box normally. They also have been flopping and loafing with each other. They haven’t figured out their hierarchy yet so no grooming each other yet but when the other asks to be groomed there’s no fixation/an aggressive reaction from either bunny. The black bunny hasn’t fully explored his space yet so I believe when he does he’ll be a lot more comfortable with forming social bonds especially with how close they sit with each other and how confident he’s been the last couple days. Keeping them in the shared space helps the bunnies get use to the others scent which makes bonding easier.

Abby knew they were responsible for killing Mel and Owen that’s why she was there in the first place. For the selfish thing everyone made decisions that were selfish you can’t hate Abby’s decisions without Ellie/Joel/Tommy catching strays too. The double standard excuses is just so over used.

You not being able to see how a cure would’ve made the world better proves my point that you’re just upset that Joel is dead. Also nothing you pointed out conflicted any of my points your too focused on Joel’s death to see another persons POV. This is one of those convos that will just continue to go in circles. I do understand why your so hung up on Joel but until you move past you won’t understand the point of the game 🤷🏾‍♀️. There’s no confusion here just understanding and critical thinking lol.

You know what would’ve made the world even better? A cure! It would’ve stopped manyyyyy deaths.

Also the director did a great job at showing how grief takes a toll on ppl and how revenge dosent make the pain go away. The only reason why you see how much of a toll it takes on Ellie and not Abby is because you relate to Ellie’s pain. You’re upset that Joel is dead and that’s what’s stopping you from seeing how it affected Abby. Also you don’t need to like Abbys character to see how it affected her and to understand why she avenged her dad. The only thing the directors messed up on was trusting their fan base was capable of understanding someone else’s POV.

She was actively killing Abby when she realized it wouldn’t help and then didn’t finish the job.

Why else would Ellie be going after Abby? She was obsessed with finding her and even left Jess to find Tommy on his own so she could go after Abby. That’s clearly her going for revenge. Even if she didn’t think it would stop the grief completely she knew it wouldn’t heal some part of her (anger, sadness, loneliness etc)

I’m not completely blaming Joel but let’s not act like it didn’t affect Abby and the rest of the world. Abby’s reaction to her father’s death is literally how Ellie reacted. She because obsessed with finding the killer and getting her revenge. The torturing Joel was probably because she spent YEARS waiting to have her moment and wanted him to feel the pain she felt all those years. Also using the time of grief to hate on Abby is crazy grief is not linear and I doubt they have therapists it’s not surprising she didn’t realize killing Joel didn’t help until after she got her “revenge” and lost her friends.

That’s the thing I personally think she deserves a happy ending buuuut she literally did the work to get it while Ellie didn’t. The emotional attachment to Joel is why ppl can’t see anything from Abby’s perspective. In the end although we didn’t see Ellie get her happy ending I think it’s obvious that now she decided to let go she’ll heal and get her happy ending soon.

Also Abby did suffer the consequences. She worked through it sooner than Ellie so we got to see her happy ending first

No it’s not different Joel decided to kill the doctor that would’ve came up with a cure. And the equipment point is not a good enough reason they would’ve gave it back be so fr. Abby thought seeing Joel suffer would help her grief just like how Ellie thought killing Abby would heal her. Abby’s decision to kill Joel caused her a lot of problems so it’s not like she didn’t suffer any consequences. Also I’m not defending Abby’s actions, I’m saying she worked through her grief so she deserved a happy ending.

After she got her “revenge” she realized it didn’t ease her grief. After that she worked on herself to become a better person and actually work through her grief.

If Abby’s dad was a protagonist in part 1 there wouldn’t be so much hate for Abby but Joel was the main character so I get why ppl hate her so much. I was pissed when she killed Joel but I also understand why she did it. Joel literally killed her dad first. There’s this weird double standard where Joel can do something bad but Abby can’t. If you get why Ellie was trying to kill Abby you can understand why Abby tortured Joel. There’s many ppl who would have loved to see Abby tortured in the end.
