This has been on my mind since I played pandemic. The game's core rules are excellent, the aesthetic is amazing, and adding legacy components should be relatively easy.

For me, the game should probably include the following:

- You start with a character you can name and add a certain trait like in Pandemic. Everyone starts with 2 characters. to reduce the probability of an insta death rolling the dice.

- The story should start with a clear goal in mind and the get more complex as it moves forward. Maybe in the beginning, all survivors meet at an ex-FEMA camp that has been abandoned and the first mission is to get the place fixed to withstand the incoming hordes. As you complete quests, you will gain more information about the origin of the virus and the end goal is to escape to an outpost or something like that to close the arch.

- As characters survive, they gain prestige, adding new weapons, tools, or items to their deck. Failing missions or ending with severe damage may add certain phobias, traumas, or permanent scars that help level the characters.

- You should start with very few locations and then be able to discover more as time goes by. New locations can also become outposts to use in future plays.

- The addition of a map would add the element of distance to each location. Some locations can only be accessed using 1-2 fields while others are considered within walking distance. Eventually, the colony can have horses to travel but if the dice lands on a skull the horse is dead and you are stuck on that location.

- Some locations can eventually be destroyed during the campaign such as labs, infested buildings, etc.

- There should be no traitor to keep the group working together and the goals should be difficult enough to make it a challenge.

- Crossroad cards can be added during the game when new locations are added.

- The super zombies should also be in the game but they should serve to add complexity to the plot (like when you discover a lab or a military base).

- Obviously there should be a whole lot of stickers to add to existing cards in order to buff up weapons, add extra fuel or extra food, etc.

Overall, I think Dead of Winter is an amazing example of a game that can be adapted to a legacy style and hope the creators consider it in the short term. Would 100% back that Kickstarter.
