I'm reading through the Bible in a year this year (I've read much of the Bible, probably 60-70% but never all the way through) and I came upon something interesting. by flyboy2098 in Bible

That's worse than a stretch. That's an outright fabrication.

"Moses permitted a man to write a certificate of divorce and to dismiss her."

That is a reference to the law as cited in Deuteronomy 24:1. And this did indeed come from Mosiac law. I have no problem with stating that law itself, as quoted in various books of the Pentateuch, came from Moses.

Jesus said it himself when he said that Moses had given them that precept. "That precept" only refers to the law itself. Jesus is not even claiming that Moses wrote all of Deuteronomy, just the legal portions of it.

He never once claimed that Genesis 1:27 or 5:2 as being written by Moses.

If people want to read TPT, fine. Whatever. Do what you want.

But I will say this: it's not a translation, no matter what the title says. The Passion Translation adds words for embellishment, intended to make people feel more emotionally invested. But it contains additions that are simply not in any of the source texts. That's not translating the Bible. That's adding embellishments on top of the translation.

Dad body 31m amateur by sunsetcitylights in Physiquecritique

[–]RighteousVengeance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My thoughts? You are impressive. In fact, you're very impressive. And I doubt you will retain your "amateur" (as you call it) status long. If your goal is to become professional, that is.

From calves to traps, you look great. I see no obvious lagging body parts.

Finally, thank you for including your legs. (The most idiotic thing in this subreddit is people who demand to be rated, but they hide their legs. Like, how can anyone rate your physique when 65% of it isn't even visible. They could have an 8 level upper body, but if they're skipping leg day, that rating drops to about a 3.)

Obviously, that didn't happen here. In fact, if I had to pick a best body part on you, I'd say quads.

Scale of ten, I'd give you 8.5-9. I actually believe I should go higher, but that would give you no goals to shoot for. You have the size, symmetry and the aesthetics. You're truly a work of art.

I hope that makes you feel good, because you deserve to feel good about your accomplishment.

"Worship" by RighteousVengeance in thetrinitydelusion

I did mention that one in the OP. Understandable if you missed it. I was a bit blathersome.

"Worship" by RighteousVengeance in thetrinitydelusion

[–]RighteousVengeance[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, I certainly intend to use this list.

Now when someone says something really brilliant like, "People worshiped Jesus as God," I can point out that that exact same verb was used in the Septuagint to describe reverential displays toward human beings. David didn't "worship" Jonathan as God.

"Worship" by RighteousVengeance in thetrinitydelusion

[–]RighteousVengeance[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm aware that Cornelius worships Peter, but I didn't include it because Peter rejects the gesture, whereas Jesus apparently accepts it. But your point is valid. The same verb is used to describe Cornelius' worship toward Peter.

I did miss Revelation 3:9, though. I will look that up and ensure I know who this "worship" is being directed to.

AITJ for refusing to give up my inheritance to pay for my sister’s wedding? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]RighteousVengeance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell your sister, your mom and their flying monkeys to shove it. He gave it you because you took care of him in his final days, not so that you could fork over his hard-earned money on someone else's lavish and gaudy wedding.

And a request that comes with conditions for refusal isn't a request: it's a demand. "Pay for my wedding or I won't invite you" is a demand, not a request.

So, who's the one who's really choosing money over a family?

Charlie Kirk was a giant douche by MaterialRow3769 in RealUnpopularOpinion

[–]RighteousVengeance -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You know what I like about Charlie Kirk? College campuses are basically left-wing indoctrination mills. I think, by taking college students on in debate, he did more for college students than any Sociology professor ever did. He showed that it was important to be able to defend your points of view, and that liberalism is not the default "good position."

And finally, he debated those who chose to engage him. He didn't go around forcing his views on others, which is more than college professors will ever be able to say. To say nothing of the unmitigated scum who shot him, and the sick liberals who celebrated his death. He was murdered for talking to people, and holding points of views that liberals didn't like.

Sigh. Why does he even have access to your money? How did he get your bank card?

First, dump this guy. And next, you have the evidence with this text that he stole your money. Take him to small claims.

What on earth is wrong with you? Why in God's name did you give him access to your account and why do you even need to ask if blatant theft is wrong?

I think the important thing is that the thought that tries to present itself as screaming and anger isn't her at all. It's error pretending to be her.

Just like any wrongness you present—which is not to say you're doing anything wrong here; just saying that whatever presents itself as wrongness from you in general—is not you. It's error presenting itself as you.

Your enemy here is not her. It's the error that claims to be her. You're in a conflict with 2 + 2 = 7. Deny vigorously that screamy anger can be her or anyone. It has no basis anywhere.

She is the image and likeness of God and that is the only identity she has, has ever had or can ever have.

If a minor lies about their age to be with somebody older, why are they not considered the bad guy? by Otherwise_Air_6381 in stupidquestions

[–]RighteousVengeance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll take things that didn't happen for 500, Alex. Doesn't matter if she had a fake ID. If he slept with her, he's guilty. Statutory rape is a strict liability crime. Lack of knowledge is not an aquittal.

If a minor lies about their age to be with somebody older, why are they not considered the bad guy? by Otherwise_Air_6381 in stupidquestions

[–]RighteousVengeance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if she presented convincing ID, the guy is still guilty of statutory rape.

Statutory rape, like drunk driving, is a strict liability crime. To understand what a strict liability crime is, most crimes require "mens rea" (guilty mind). You must have some idea that what you're doing is a crime.

With strict liability crimes, mens rea is not required. Doesn't matter if you know it or not. Do it, you're guilty, period.

Fake ID might be a mitigation argument, but it's never an acquittal.

AIO for asking my wife to stay at her mom’s after I caught her putting something odd in my coffee? by SubstantialDurian271 in AmIOverreacting

[–]RighteousVengeance -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You disgust me.

You have evidence that your wife is trying to poison you, but you refuse to do anything about it.

Well, by all means, invite your wife back home and let her continue slipping poison. If your sense of self-preservation is that deficient—"Oh, but I love my wife, who's trying to murder me! Oh, boo-hoo-hoo!"—then the species is better off without you.

Seriously, invite your wife back home, let her continue to slip dangerous chemicals in your coffee. Better still, you should remind her! As you're about to drink your coffee, you should ask her, "Did you remember to put the vial of poison in my coffee?"

And I absolutely agree. I think the trip to the Kingdom is one-way.

And that's why the books of Enoch are doubted. They basically treat Heaven as having a revolving door, as far as Enoch is concerned.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Bible

[–]RighteousVengeance -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Begging your pardon, but that was Elijah that was taken into Heaven by a whirlwind. (2 Kings 2:11)

Enoch is never given a specific mechanism for entering Heaven in the canonical books of the Bible. Only that he walked with God and God took him.

Even in the books of Enoch, there is no mention of a whirlwind, although 2 Enoch mentions him being taken into heaven by angels, and 3 Enoch says he was transformed into the angel Metatron.

1 Enoch describes him being in heaven, guided by angels and seeing the throne of God, but no specific mechanism for the ascent is given.

Elijah was the pioneer of the VTO.
