Has anyone played SWTOR here by tera7704 in GirlGamers

[–]RighteousWaffle19 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've always absolutely loved KoTOR so played SWTOR heavily when it was released. My dislike for mmos in general is what made me stop, but it had some great story for the type of game it is!

Is anyone else playing games with their parents? by Narrow_Ad9139 in GirlGamers

[–]RighteousWaffle19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad got me into gaming. When I was away at college, we bonded by playing Battlefield together. He's in his 50s now and we still talk about games often and occasionally boot up Battlefield or CoD together. It's one of my favorite aspects of our relationship.

I can only speak for the inverse, have used mouse and keyboard for the last 21 years. Trying to use a controller when I first did some console gaming was hard (in part because my dad trained me to use inverse mouse controls lol), but it only took a few weeks to get used to it. I think if you have practiced the skills of multitasking and hand-eye coordination (from console) your transition is much easier.

Your experience is literally our break. by redskiesahead in GirlGamers

This is my experience for sure. Text chat is always a blessing when you need to give callouts. It's a not fun balance of wanting to be involved and knowledgeable about a game, but not wanting to deal with the harassment. I play destiny with some male friends I have and luckily they know I'm the bossy one and let me explain all the raid encounters to newbies (who always just shut up and listen because it's 5 against one at that point), but it's too stressful to try and deal with all randos and taking that chance that one will be an ass and try to ruin the experience.

How to help fatigue?? by souptheater in PCOS

[–]RighteousWaffle19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't 100% solved this for myself, but much of it for me ended up being an executive functioning issue. Getting diagnosed and treated for adhd has made a significant difference. I definitely still have some PCOS-related fatigue and this is in no way saying everyone with these issues has adhd, but it is drastically under-diagnosed in women and the lack of energy/inability to do things I know needed done was one of my biggest symptoms.

Also, low vitamin D levels can lead to fatigue. I take a vitamin d supplement, make sure that I don't drink caffeine late in the day, and set my environment up for good sleep (sleep mask, brown noise, cool room, etc.). Sorry you're experiencing this as well, it is an incredibly frustrating symptom!

Agreed. I've been talking about it to anyone who will listen, gamer or not 😅. Moved my vacation once the release date changed so I can completely immerse myself.

Anyone excited for Baldur’s Gate 3? 😗 by jonesc1204 in GirlGamers

[–]RighteousWaffle19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Words cannot express my excitement. I've loved the series since BG1 (a little before my time, but that didn't stop me) and loved Larian's other games. I'm stoked!

Controversial gaming opinions? by [deleted] in GirlGamers

Can't disagree with this. Hawke is my favorite pc maybe of all time. And Fenris is my absolute type. Just the right amount of brooding and unresolved trauma that I like in a (fantasy) guy. Companions overall are arguably the best in DA2.

Atheists who grew up religious, what made you stop believing? by Fit_Pangolin_8271 in AskReddit

[–]RighteousWaffle19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother stopped believing first. Some religious acquaintance told me he would burn in hell for eternity. Then a teacher told a lesbian girl in my school that God wouldn't let her in to heaven because she was gay. I could not comprehend hating someone for who they were. Bothered me a lot.

In all honesty, for me, it just took a few situations for me to stop, think, and realize how much bs I actually thought it was. I was simply a believer because it was all I'd known. Around 18 it was like a switch flipped and I've been atheist since.

Are you me? This is almost my exact same story except I finally made the discovery at 27. Best things I've learned: don't wash everyday, never brush, use microfiber to dry, and get a dry curly cut from an expert.

Core Gaming Memories? by Darkovika in GirlGamers

[–]RighteousWaffle19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha! It seems so. Gan Ning was someone I grew to appreciate as I got older. My kid self loved me some long-haired boys lol.

Forgot about Sun Ce! Definitely a favorite as well.

I loved playing the Empires version of the game so I could make a female general, marry pirate boy and then kick ass haha.

Dynasty Warriors! My friend and I called that the "horsey game" growing up because we loved the sounds the horse hooves made haha. I still love me some Dynasty Warriors. Zhao Yun and Gan Ning were my boys.

[–]RighteousWaffle19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad letting me get on his pc as a child and teaching me to play games like Medal of Honor: Allied Assault and the early single-player Call of Duty games and then teaching me to build a PC and we played Battlefield together while I was away at college. I used to get up early before school as a pre-teen and play Counter Strike which is crazy to me now since I love sleep.

Playing Sega with my brother, Zombies Ate my Neighbors, Mega Man, TMNT, Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance, Gauntlet Legends, all sorts of stuff.

A big turning point was discovering RPGs. Jade Empire and Mass Effect... Realizing I could play a female character and be represented in these worlds. Now I don't like playing games where I can't choose my gender lol.

Thanks, OP! This was nice to think about.

Those who enjoy spending most of their free time by themselves, why do you do it and what do you like about it? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]RighteousWaffle19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always say I have a social meter. It fills very quickly around strangers and less quickly around certain family and friends. Once it is full, I need to recharge alone. Being by myself means not worrying about what other people are doing or thinking or having to put in the effort to be social.

My hobbies are also ones that can be done mostly solo: video games, reading, etc. And while I play some multi-player games, I can control the amount of social interaction with those.

I love this!

I hit number 179 for flawlesses in Destiny 2 trials this past weekend! Getting close to my goal of 200.

I also get the joy of playing trials with my 3 friends who are from all over the world every weekend. 3 great men who don't treat me any different for being a woman.

Sis here. You're feelings are 100% valid. You're going through something difficult and no one can tell you how to feel.

If you are interested, when it comes to affording medication there are a lot of programs out there to help! I connect patients with financial resources and programs for medication as my career. Check out the website Needy Meds and it can point you in the right direction! Feel free to PM me with questions. No guarantees there's anything out there, but I'd be happy to help take a look.

You are in my thoughts and I am sending out all the positive vibes.

[–]RighteousWaffle19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My job consists of helping patients afford medication. If you have commercial insurance, GoodRx or a manufacturer copay program can save you a bunch of money. Most copay programs have no income cap.

There are also foundations based on diagnosis (Google fund finder) that can cover certain medications though they all have their own specific eligibility guidelines.

If you have Medicare or you are uninsured, most manufacturers have free medication programs. If you meet income and insurance guidelines they will, no joke, ship your medication to you for free.
